Hi, just to update on my health: I have diabetes and hypertension, both controlled with medication. Last May 2025, I had Guillain–Barré syndrome affecting my peripheral nerves, but I recovered and now take Vitamin B12 and B6. Recent check-up shows mild cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spondylosis. At C5/6 there’s mild and at C6/7 moderate left nerve compression, causing pain behind my shoulder. No thoracic or lower back disc issues. I frequently experience numbness in my hands and legs. Would appreciate advice on managing the pain and nerve symptoms

How long have you been experiencing numbness and pain?:

- 1-6 months

What activities trigger or worsen your symptoms?:

Hello Thanks for the medical history – super clear! I get how difficult and draining nerve pain and numbness can be, especially after something intense like Guillain–Barré. But dont worry we are here to help you out😊 YOUR CONCERN Adult (Diabetes & BP under control) Background: –Guillain–Barré Syndrome (May 2025 – all good now!) –Currently taking Vitamin B12 & B6 What’s bugging you now: –Neck and shoulder pain –Numbness in hands and legs MRI Results: –C5–6: slight nerve compression –C6–7: moderate nerve compression (left side) –Mild wear and tear in your neck, upper & lower back Pain Level: It’s moderate and messing with your day-to-day. AYURVEDIC VIEW This sounds like a combo of: messed up Vata, weak tissues (Majja-dhatu kshaya), and joint wear (Asthi sandhi kshaya). Guillain–Barré messes with: –Myelin (that nerve coating stuff) –Nerve strength –Vata balance Diabetes just makes your nerves weaker Spondylosis can: –Trap Vata in your spine –Squish nerve roots Cause pain, numbness, and that tingly feeling Nerve weakness from GBS Nerve compression because of spondylosis WHY YOU’RE STILL NUMB Well: –Nerves heal super slow (think 1–2 mm a day) –Vitamin B12 helps, but it’s not a magic bullet Less blood’s getting to your nerves. –There’s still some inflammation around those nerve roots. AYURVEDIC PLAN What we gotta do: –Boost those damaged nerves –Chill out spinal inflammation –Lube up those discs –Calm that Vata –Get the blood flowing better This’ll stop: –Numbness from getting worse –Permanent nerve issues –Any future paralysis worries WHAT TO TAKE (SAFE WITH YOUR BP & DIABETES) 1 Ashwagandha capsules –1 capsule twice a day (Fixes nerves & eases pain) 2 Yograj Guggulu – 1 tablet twice a day (Eases spinal inflammation) 3 Brihat Vata Chintamani (no gold)– once at night (Best nerve reviver) 4.Dashmoolaristha– 20 ml twice a day after food (Eases deep nerve & spine inflammation) Keep taking your B12 & B6 WHAT TO DO (super important!) Massage Time (Abhyanga) Massage neck, shoulders, arms, legs with Mahanarayan oil or Bala-Ashwagandha oil → Every day before your shower Warm It Up Hot water bag on neck & shoulder → 15 mins, twice a day This helps with nerve swelling MOVING AROUND –Gentle neck stretches –Neck exercises (isometric) –Strengthen those shoulder blades –Easy does it – no sudden moves! Watch out for: –Looking down at your phone too long –Heavy lifting –Pillows that are too high EAT THIS (Nerve-Healing) –Ghee (clarified butter) –Almonds –Warm milk (if your sugar’s good) –Moong dal (split green gram) –Veggies –Coconut water AVOID –Cold food –Dry snacks –Junk food -*Late nights Nerve recovery takes time, but it happens! You’re not gonna be paralyzed. Your nerves are just hurt, not dead. With the right Ayurvedic stuff and spine care, you’ll feel comfy and get back to doing your thing. Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Your shoulder pain is most likely from the C5 and C6-7 nerve compression and the numbness in thaw hand and legs may be partly from cervical nerves and partly from diabetes or past GBS nerve sensitivity Keep your blood sugar strictly controlled and continue B12 and make sure your vit D is adequate Avoid long mobile use and neck bending use a thin pillow start supervised physiotherpy for neck strengthening and posture correction Hot fomentation over the neck and shoulders can help Daily walking and light stretching improve circulation if numbness increases or weakness appears consult neurologist for nerve conduction test
