-You likely have long-standing nerve pain after herpes. Sometimes even when the infection is gone, the nerves and the pain system stay overactive. That’s why treatments give temporary relief but the pain returns. We need to reassess whether this is post-herpetic neuralgia, small fiber neuropathy, or central sensitization. Instead of trying random medicines again, you should see a good neurologist . -till then I am recommending some ayurvedic medicines if doesn’t get relief then must visit neurologist -Rx 1)Yograj Guggulu – 2 tabs BD after food with warm water 2)Ashwagandha cap – 500 mgHS with warm milk 3)Dashmoola Kwath – 20 ml BD before food 4)Brahmi Vati – 1 tab HS 5)Ksheerabala 101 (capsule/oil) – 1 BD after food External: -Mahanarayana Taila Abhyanga – daily gentle massage -Follow with mild Nadi Sweda -Pathya: Warm, cooked, easy-to-digest food Avoid cold, dry, spicy food Early sleep Stress reduction If pain is severe (burning type), plz consult - and u can apply calamine lotion over the burning area

Hello I have so much respect for your wife and your family. Living with post-herpetic nerve pain for over 7 years sounds super rough– it must be exhausting on every level. YOUR CONCERN –Your wife has severe nerve pain all over. –The pain started after a herpes infection. –A nerve block gave her some short-term relief, but the pain came back. –She’s tried a ton of stuff (different docs, treatments), but the pain is still there. –Modern medicine calls this Post-Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN). In Ayurveda, it’s seen as Vata-pradhana Majja-dhatu Dushti How Ayurveda Sees It: The herpes virus messed up: –Nervous tissue. –Nerve channels. –Nerve immunity. This leads to: –Dryness. –Swelling. –Nerves that are way too sensitive. Which causes: –Burning pain. –Electric shock feelings. —Pain even from a light touch. –Flare-ups that keep coming back. Even after the virus is gone, Vata stays stuck in the nerves, so the pain hangs around. What We’re Trying to Do: We’re not treating the herpes itself. We’re focused on: –Fixing the damaged nerve covering and calming the Vata in the nerve tissue. The goals are to: –Rebuild the nerve sheath. –Soothe the sensitive nerve fibers. –Get rid of the toxins that are causing swelling. –Bring back nerve energy. How Ayurveda Will Treat It: –Pills alone won’t cut it. –It takes a mix of: Internal herbal stuff, external oil treatments, and nerve nourishment. AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT INTERNAL MEDICATION These need to be taken regularly for 4–6 months: 1.Ashwagandha Churna ½ tsp twice a day with warm milk. Repairs nerve tissue. 2.Guduchi Satva 500 mg twice a day. Lowers nerve swelling. 3.Maharasnadi Kashayam 15 ml twice a day before meals. Handles nerve pain. 4.*Brihat Vata Chintamani Ras- 1 tablet once a day. Repairs deep nerves. 5.Ksheerabala 101 capsule 1 at night. Makes nerve sheaths strong again. EXTERNAL CARE Daily oil massage on the painful spots with: Ksheerabala Taila After the massage: Put a warm compress on gently. This is a must. PANCHAKARMA (The Best Bet): For actual relief, she needs: –Matra Basti (oil enema). –Shirodhara. These calm the whole nervous system and shut down those pain signals. DIET PLAN ❌AVOID –Tea, coffee. –Cold stuff. –Dry stuff. –Sugar. –Fried foods. ✅INCLUDE –Warm, cooked meals. –Ghee. –Milk. –Soups. –Moong dal. Your wife’s pain can get better— –It’s about healing the nerve tissue. –Modern medicine just blocks pain. –Ayurveda fixes the nerves. –With some time and the right plan, even pain that’s been around for 7 years can get way better. I’m here to help you. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

I understand how difficult this must be after so many years of trying different treatments when nerve pain continues long after a herpes infection it is often due to long term nerve damage called postherpetic neuralgia where the nerves keep sending pain signals even though the infection is gone over time the nervous system becomes oversensitive and the pain becomes chronic at this stage it is important to focus on proper neuropathic pain management under a neurologist or pain specialist rather than trying multiple alternative therapies certain nerve stabilizing medicines sometimes need correct dosing and longer duration checking vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels is also important because deficiencies can worsen nerve pain chronic nerve pain is complex but structured treatment and pain rehabilitation can still improve quality of life

HELLO, Chronic nerve pain after Herpes zoster (often called shingles) can persist for years as Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). Since you’ve tried many options already, we will focus on long term pacification of aggravated vata (the primary dosha involved in nerve pain), along with strengthening and pain modulation therapies. In Ayurveda, chronic nerve pain after herpes is considered -Vata vyadhi (neurological disorder due to aggravated vata) -Often associated with Dhatukshaya (tissue depletion) -In long standing cases= obstruction of channels TREATMENT INVOLVES -vata pacification -nerve nourishment -pain relief -rejuvneation INTERNAL MEDICATION LONG TERM= 3-6 MONTHS MINIMUM A) FOR VATA PACIFICATION AND NERVE NOURISHMENT -ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm milk twice daily after meals =nerve tonic, reduces hypersensitivity -BALA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with warm milk in morning -MAHAYOGARAJ GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =classic for vata disorders and chronic nerve pain -DASHMOOLA KASHAYA= 20ml twice daily before meals with warm water =deep vata pacifier, anti inflamamtory -KSHEERBALA 101 CAPSULES= 1 cap twice daily after meals =specially indicated in neuralgia, neuropathy B) FOR SEVERE BURNING TYPE NERVE PAIN If burning sensation is dominant -PRAVAL. PISHTI= 125mg with honey twice daily C) FOR REJUVENATION AFTER 6-8 WEEKS OF VATA CONTROL -CHYAWANPRASHA= 1 tsp in morning PANCHAKARMA MOST IMPORTANT IN CHRONIC CASE If possible, undergo supervised panchakarma therapy 1) DAILY OIL MASSAGE -warm ksheerbala oil -gentle full body massage daily -follow with mild steam 2) SHASHTIKA SHALI PINDA SWEDA -highly recommended for nerve nourishment 3) BASTI= KEY THERAPY -In chronic Vata disorders, Basti is the main treatment for 8-16 days course -ALTERNATING- Anuvasana basti, Niruha basti This is often life changing in chronic neuropathic pain DIET -warm,freshlly cooked meals -ghee small regular amount -milk with turmeric at night -mung dal -rice -root vegetables -soaked almonds -black sesame small amounts Hydration with warm water only AVOID -dry foods -cold food -excess fasting -fermented foods -excess tea coffee -sour and spicy food LIFESTYLE REGULATION -Sleep before 10:30 pm -avoid exposure to cold wind -gentle yoga= vajrasana, Bhujangasana, makarasana -daily slow breathing-anulom vilom Since pain returned after nerve block, it sugests -persistent nerve hypersensitivty -possibly central sensitization It may be helpful to also evaluate -vitamin B12 levels -vitamin D levels -Thyroid function -Blood sugar EXPECTATIONS Chronic PHN for 7-8 Yeats requires -minimu 3-6 months therpay -panchakarma gives best results -gradual reduction in intensity rather than overnight cure DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU

Long-standing nerve pain after herpes can be very persistent and is often related to post-herpetic neuralgia, where the nerves remain sensitized even after the infection has healed. Since many treatments have already been tried, the focus should shift toward calming nerve hypersensitivity and improving overall nervous system stability rather than repeatedly changing random medicines. Supportive measures that may help: • Regular gentle oil massage (mahanarayan or ksheerabala taila in suitable cases) to calm vata and nerve irritation • Warmth therapy and gentle stretching instead of aggressive treatments • Medhya and nervine support such as Ashwagandha or Bala-based preparations may be considered individually • Good sleep routine and stress reduction, as chronic pain amplifies with nervous system stress Because the condition is complex and long-standing, treatment needs careful personalization and coordination with current medical care. A detailed consultation would help review previous therapies and design a structured, step-by-step management plan.
