The preparation you’re referring to seems to be a tailor-made Ayurvedic formulation with a focus on respiratory health and addressing congestion. With dasmoolam as a key component, this blend supports respiratory function, reducing inflammation and aiding expectoration. Dasmoolam, a classic Ayurvedic combination involving ten roots, is known for its respiratory, anti-inflammatory, and rejuvenative properties, especially beneficial for kapha-related disorders affecting the respiratory system.
To prepare a small dose, first, powder each ingredient (if not already powdered) and mix accordingly:
1. Dasmoolam powder - 50 gm 2. Cassia auriculata - 50 gm 3. Adhatoda vasica (vasaka) - 50 gm 4. Ginger - 3 gm 5. Black pepper - 3.5 gm 6. Long pepper - 3.5 gm 7. Cardamom - 3 gm 8. True cinnamon - 3.5 gm 9. Indian bay leaf - 3.5 gm
These measurements are proportional, simplifying the mixing process. Keep the dasmoolam mixture stored in an airtight glass jar, preferably in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, to maintain potency.
For dosing, you can make a decoction by boiling 1-2 tsp of the mixture in about 200 ml of water. Simmer until it’s reduced to half. Remember to strain before consuming. An additional teaspoon of honey can be added to warm (not hot) decoction for extra soothing and balancing kapha dosha. Have this preparation once or twice daily when symptoms appear, but not exceeding 10 days.
Regarding ingredients like ginger, piper nigrum and pippali, they are warming spices and need to be balanced if pitta is elevated. Necessity of personalized prescriptions exist, so if symptoms persist, it’s wise to consult a local Ayurvedic practitioner. They can help fine-tune dosage or suggest necessary modifications based on specific health profile.
