I recently heard about the periosteum, but I don’t fully understand what it is. I know it has something to do with bones, but is it a separate layer, or is it part of the bone itself? What exactly does the periosteum do, and why is it so important? I read that it helps with bone growth and repair, but how does it actually work? Does the periosteum contain blood vessels and nerves that supply the bone? Also, what happens if the periosteum gets damaged—can it heal itself, or does it lead to long-term bone problems? I also want to know if there are natural ways to support periosteum health. Do certain foods or supplements like calcium, vitamin D, or collagen help strengthen it?
