For the last few months, I’ve been dealing with constant neck pain, stiffness, and this weird tingling in my arms. At first, I thought it was just because of my bad posture—I work long hours on a laptop and barely move throughout the day. But then the pain started getting worse, especially in the morning. Sometimes, I feel like my neck is stuck, and I can’t even turn my head properly. When I finally went to the doctor, they told me I have cervical spondylosis. The doctor said it’s a type of wear and tear in the neck bones and discs, which happens as we age. But I’m only 35! How can I have cervical spondylosis already? They gave me some painkillers and muscle relaxants, but I don’t want to keep taking medicines forever. I read that cervical spondylosis can get worse over time, leading to nerve problems or even surgery. I’ve tried some stretching exercises and using a hot pack, but the relief doesn’t last long. In Ayurveda, cervical spondylosis is often linked to Vata imbalance affecting the joints, nerves, and muscles. Here’s what you can try:

1. Ayurvedic Herbs and Remedies Ashwagandha: Reduces inflammation and strengthens the neck muscles. Shallaki (Boswellia): Helps reduce pain and stiffness in the joints. Ayurveda’s got your back (or neck in this case!), helping to rebalance your doshas which could be causing the wear and tear stress on your neck.

So how much do you know about Vata dosha? In Ayurveda, cervical spondylosis is often linked to an aggravated Vata dosha which controls movement and dry qualities in the body. First thing, focus on stabilizing this dosha with your diet and routine. How? Start with a Vata-pacifying diet: include warm, cooked foods and avoid raw or cold foods. Favor sweet, salty, and sour tastes to bring in balance.

On herbs, try Ashwagandha or Shankhapushpi, they are known to strengthen nerves and reduce stress. Both are easily available; you can consume them as powders or tablets—just follow the dosage on the package or consult an Ayurvedic doc if you’re unsure.
