For the past few weeks, I’ve been experiencing severe pain in the ball of my foot, just below the toes. The pain started as a mild discomfort, but recently it has gotten worse. It feels like there’s pressure on the front of my foot, and it’s especially painful when I walk or stand for long periods. I went to the doctor, and they diagnosed me with metatarsalgia, but I’m still not entirely sure what this condition means. I’ve heard that metatarsalgia is an inflammation of the metatarsal bones in the foot, but I’m not sure what causes it. Could this be related to my shoes? I tend to wear high heels quite often, and I know they put a lot of pressure on the forefoot. Is this a common cause of metatarsalgia?
