Pain and stiffness in the fingers, particularly with swelling, and thigh pain can be related to imbalances in your doshas, particularly Vata and possibly some involvement of Kapha. Vata dosha, when aggravated, often causes pain and stiffness, while Kapha can contribute to swelling.

To address the discomfort in your fingers, let’s start with an oil massage, which is very effective in soothing Vata. Use warm sesame oil or Mahanarayan oil and gently massage your fingers daily for about 10-15 minutes. This helps improve circulation and lubricates the joints. Pay attention to the pressure you apply; it should be gentle yet firm.

Additionally, incorporating anti-inflammatory spices into your meals, such as ginger and turmeric, can be beneficial. Ginger tea—consumed two to three times daily—can help reduce inflammation and relieve stiffness.

For dietary considerations, focus on warm, cooked meals to pacify Vata. This includes oatmeal, rice, steamed vegetables, and vegetable soups. Reduce intake of raw foods, cold drinks, and salads as they may increase your symptoms.

With regards to the thigh pain from sleeping, try placing a pillow between your knees if you sleep on your side, which helps alignment and can reduce pressure that causes pain.
