Addressing knee pain, numbness in fingers and toes, and lower back pain involves understanding the root cause according to Ayurveda. These symptoms might suggest an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and nerve function. Here’s how you can approach this holistically:

For the knee pain, consider regularly applying warm sesame oil, which is known for its vata-pacifying properties. Lightly massage your knee with it, ideally in the morning and before bed, to help alleviate stiffness and improve circulation. If pain persists or is severe, seeking further investigation like imaging through a healthcare professional is essential.

Regarding lower back pain, applying a warm, damp towel or a heating pad can improve muscle tension and support better blood flow. Following with gentle stretching exercises, such as cat-cow stretches, help strengthen the lower back muscles and support overall spine health.

For numbness in the extremities, cumin-fennel tea can soothe the nervous system. Boil equal parts of cumin seeds and fennel in water, and drink it warm. This may help in calming nerves and improving circulation. Ensure you’re adequately hydrated, as dehydration can worsen Vata imbalances. Consider embracing a diet that’s nutrient-rich, with warm, cooked vegetables and whole grains to nourish dhatus (tissues).

Additionally, maintaining a daily routine can stabilize Vata. Sleep should be consistent, aiming for 7-8 hours. Stress management techniques like meditation or pranayama can effectively calm Vata dosha. Simple breathing exercises may reduce stress and pain sensitivity.
