I have severe scoliosis. Bones are scrunched to bottom and right of my back. I have lived with this for years but doctors could not diagnose correctly.

Severe scoliosis requires a careful approach, and while Ayurveda offers supportive measures, immediate medical evaluation by a specialist is essential—particularly if you have faced diagnosis issues. Ensure you continue seeking professional medical guidance as untreated scoliosis can lead to complications.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, scoliosis might relate to an imbalance of Vata dosha, as Vata governs the movements and structures of the body, including bones and nerves. Begin by considering dietary adjustments aimed at balancing Vata; consume warm, cooked foods that are well-oiled. Favor root vegetables and grains like rice or quinoa, and incorporate ghee or sesame oil to promote lubrication and flexibility.

Lifestyle changes can also support Vata balance. Regular gentle yoga, focusing on postures that enhance spine flexibility like Tadasana (Mountain pose) and Bhujangasana (Cobra pose) might be beneficial. However, avoid any strain-inducing or vigorous postures. Always consult a yoga therapist familiar with scoliosis before beginning.

Abhyanga, a daily self-massage with warm sesame oil, can be grounding and help alleviate Vata disorders. Apply the oil gently on the skin in circular motions, particularly in the areas of discomfort, which could help with pain management.
