Dealing with ear discomfort, like the pain and decreased hearing you describe, can indeed be addressed with Ayurvedic methods. However, given that you're experiencing hearing loss and have already tried topical treatments like ear drops without relief, seek an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist promptly. This ensures there's no serious underlying condition, like an infection, or deeper blockage. In Ayurveda, we look at ear issues like yours through the lens of Vata dosha imbalance, which can lead to dryness and accumulation of wax in the ear canal. Since you're noticing waxy discharge, the focus should be on softening and clearing this congestion to restore balance. Start with applying a few drops of warm sesame oil or almond oil in the affected ear. Make sure the oil is just comfortably warm, testing it on your wrist first. This can be done twice daily until you notice improvement. It helps in lubricating and pacifying the Vata, while also aiding in the softening of wax for natural removal. Consider steam inhalation to help reduce any pressure in the ear. Boil water, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil or holy basil leaves, and inhale the steam for about 5-10 mins. Do this twice a day. Maintain a diet that supports the pacification of Vata. Warm, nourishing foods like cooked vegetables, soupy rice, or kitchari, with ghee or warming spices like ginger, cumin, and turmeric can be beneficial. Stress and irregular sleep can aggravate Vata, so prioritize rest, and a regular routine. Gentle yoga or meditation practices can reduce stress levels. Be careful, though, not to attempt cleaning your ear with any objects or over-cleaning, as this can make things worse. If condition doesn't improve or there's pain intensifies, do not delay in consulting with a healthcare provider to rule out any infections or complications.
