how to use mahatriphala ghrita for eyes - #25784

Audrey

I am really struggling with my eye health lately. I’m 34, and I've always thought my eyes were fine, but I’ve been dealing with this annoying dryness and some weird strain after staring at screens all day, you know? A friend mentioned mahatriphala ghrita, saying it’s great for eyes, but I have no clue, how to use mahatriphala ghrita for eyes? Like, do I need to put it directly in my eyes or what? I’ve read that it’s supposed to be good for improving vision and keeping eyes clear, but I’m super confused about the application part. I tried searching online but most stuff seems too complicated or just doesn’t make sense. How much should I take, and do I mix it with something? Also, can it be used for like, tiredness too? I start feeling that midday slump and putting my head down isn't helping. I wanna do this right because I don’t want any more issues. Any advice on how to use mahatriphala ghrita for eyes would be so appreciated! Thank you!

Mahatriphala Ghrita can indeed be beneficial for eye health, drawing from traditional Ayurvedic practices. However, it’s important to use it in the right way to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Firstly, mahatriphala ghrita is primarily taken internally, rather than applied directly to the eyes. For your concerns regarding dryness and eye strain, which are common with prolonged screen use, an internal method is usually preferred. Begin by taking a small amount, typically about half a teaspoon (around 2.5 grams), melted in warm water or milk, once or twice daily on an empty stomach. This can help nourish and support the tissues of the eyes from the inside out.

When consuming internally, it’s good to have this ayurveda formulation in the morning before breakfast and, if you choose a second dose, before your evening meal. Since mahatriphala ghrita is also said to help with tiredness, having it in the morning can address that midday fatigue you mentioned by providing sustained energy and clarity throughout the day.

For direct eye applications, in Ayurveda, a related method is ‘netra tarpana,’ a specialized procedure that requires professional supervision. Therefore, it’s not recommended to self-administer mahatriphala ghrita directly into your eyes. Instead, consulting with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner would be the safer route if you’re interested in such treatments. They can assess your specific condition and guide you on whether this approach is appropriate.

It’s essential to be mindful of your dosha type and current imbalances — vata dosha, for instance, is commonly associated with dryness and may need different dietary and lifestyle adjustments. Incorporating eye exercises, reducing screen time, taking regular visual breaks, and ensuring your workspace lighting is adequate can also provide additional support.

Remember, individual responses can vary, and it might take a few weeks to notice improvements. If your symptoms persist or worsen, it would be wise to also seek advice from an eye specialist to rule out other possible causes.
