Doctors’ responses
For the fungal infection you describe, it seems similar to conditions like athlete’s foot or tinea, which can indeed spread from your feet to your hands. In Ayurveda, we address such infections by pacifying Pitta dosha and balancing Kapha, which usually contributes to the moist, itchy environment that fungi thrive in.
Firstly, a paste of turmeric and neem, known for their antimicrobial properties might help. Mix turmeric powder and neem powder with water, apply this paste to the affected areas twice a day for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Turmeric reduces inflammation while neem fights infection.
For oral consumption, triphala churna can be taken at night, about one teaspoon with lukewarm water. Triphala helps detoxify the body and can reduce skin eruptions. Ensure that your diet is not too heavy or oily, opt for light, easily digestible foods, and include bitter foods like karela (bitter melon) as they help pacify Pitta and Kapha.
Keeping the affected areas dry is crucial. Ensure your feet and hands are completely dry after bathing. Use cotton towels because they absorb moisture better. Avoid tight shoes, wear airy footwear, and change your socks frequently to reduce moisture build-up.
In addition, practice Yogic breathing exercises like Pranayama to balance bodily systems, enhancing the healing process. Beware of stress, this can aggravate Pitta dosha increasing symptoms.
If the symptoms persist or worsen, don’t hesitate to consult with a dermatologist or Ayurvedic physician for immediate professional examination. Fungal infections might require combinations of both topical antifungal treatments and lifestyle adjustments for complete recovery.
Ohkay doctor, One thing i wanna know is does the “Luliconazole” cream works?
Your symptoms suggest a fungal infection, likely Tinea or Athlete’s Foot, which can indeed spread to your hands. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, such infections are viewed through imbalances of the doshas, mainly kapha and pitta, as well as disruptions in the skin dhatus.
First, maintaining dry and clean skin is critical. Make sure the areas affected are thoroughly dried following any exposure to water. Use a cotton towel and if possible, use a hair dryer on a cool setting to ensure complete dryness.
Topically, you can apply a paste made from neem leaves, which have potent antifungal properties. Take some fresh neem leaves, grind them into a paste with a little water, and apply it to the affected areas twice a day. Neem can help balance pitta and kapha, acting as a natural antifungal agent.
Internally, you might incorporate turmeric into your diet, which helps boost your immune response. Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with lukewarm water can be taken twice daily, as it’s known for its antimicrobial properties.
Also, try to boost your overall agni or digestive fire to support your immune system by having warm meals with ginger and cumin. Keep away from dairy and sugar as these can exacerbate kapha imbalances.
If no improvement is noted in a week’s time or if conditions worsen, it’s vital to see an emergency medical professional or dermatologist to prevent severe spread or complications.
