In cases of acute viral hepatitis A, ensuring immediate safety and efficient recovery is crucial. Firstly, compliance with any current medical treatment your daughter is undergoing is important. Always consult her healthcare professional for any major changes in treatment.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, focus on dietary changes is essential to support liver health. Opt for a light, easily digestible diet. Include foods like moong dal (lentils), rice gruel, and warm soups which are easy for a weakened agni (digestive fire) to process. Freshly cooked vegetables, especially those that are mildly sweet, bitter, or astringent, are beneficial. Avoid all heavy, fatty, fried foods and very spicy items as they can aggravate pitta dosha, affecting liver function further.

Hydration is key, encourage her to drink plenty of warm water infused with a few strands of saffron; its anti-inflammatory properties can support healing. Herbal teas made from coriander seeds can also aid in cooling the system and supporting digestion.

In terms of lifestyle, ensure ample rest and avoid physical exertion. Let her sleep well, ideally retiring early to bed and rising with the sun to maintain a natural rhythm. Practice gentle breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom, which can help in reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. Avoid exposure to cold and damp, as these can vitiate the doshas further.

Natural liver-protecting herbs, like Bhumyamalaki and Katuki, have traditionally been used in Ayurveda for such conditions. However, in case of acute symptoms, please consult your Ayurvedic practitioner for precise dosage and preparation methods, ensuring they will not interfere with any ongoing treatments. Regular follow-ups with her health care provider are crucial to monitor the condition, due to the potential for complications with the liver size change and positivity for ANA.
