Managing PCOD with Ayurveda focuses on balancing doshas, improving Agni, and promoting regular cycles. For your situation, the imbalance in hormonal activity can be addressed with dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and herbs that support your overall prakriti.

Start by incorporating a balanced diet that reduces Kapha and controls Pitta, as both can contribute to PCOD symptoms. Emphasize lighter foods like fresh vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. Avoid heavy, oily, or excessively sweet foods as they tend to increase Kapha. Reducing dairy, sugar and processed foods will help manage weight. Instead, focus on incorporating spices like cinnamon, fenugreek and turmeric which maintain blood sugar levels and enhance digestion. Eating meals at regular intervals and keeping dinner light and early, around 7 PM, can support digestion and hormone regularity.

Daily exercise is crucial, as it helps regulate weight and enhance insulin sensitivity. Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity, whether it’s brisk walking, yoga, or swimming. Combining dynamic activities with practices like Pranayama and meditation can calm down the nervous system, minimize stress and thus alleviate symptoms like acne and hair fall.

Herbal remedies like Shatavari, Ashoka, and Triphala can be beneficial for hormonal balance and digestive health. Shatavari helps in regulating menstrual cycles, while Ashoka works specifically for uterine health. Triphala assists in detoxification, clearing toxins that may worsen symptoms of PCOD.

Consider regular Abhyanga (self-massage with warm sesame oil) to enhance circulation and lymphatic drainage. This alleviates stress and supports skin health, which might help reduce acne and hairfall.

Ensure you get enough sleep, around 7-8 hours a night, to assist your body’s natural rhythms and enhance rejuvenation processes. Sleepping at fixed times can stabilize hormonal cycles as well.

It’s important, though, to also consult with a healthcare provider, especially because you’ve been dependent on contraceptives for periods. They can ensure you receive comprehensive care tailored to your specific health needs.

Managing PCOD requires a holistic approach that restores balance in your body systems with particular attention to your doshas and agni. Let’s break this down with some specific Siddha-Ayurvedic recommendations tailored to your needs:

1. Dietary Changes - Begin by adopting a dosha-balancing diet. Focus on foods that pacify kapha and vata dosha, which are often imbalanced in PCOD cases. Include warm, lightly-spiced foods, lots of vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and too much dairy since they can aggravate kapha and lead to weight gain.

2. Herbal Remedies - Consider incorporating herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari which support hormonal balance and stress reduction. Guduchi and Punarnava can help in managing weight and cleansing the body. Make a decoction by boiling these herbs in water, and drink it twice a day.

3. Regular Exercise - Engage in a regular exercise routine that includes both cardiovascular exercises and yoga. Yoga postures like Surya Namaskar, Kapalbhati and Bhadrasana can specifically aid in managing PCOD by improving metabolism and hormonal balance.

4. Pranayama Practice - Daily practice of pranayama such as Anulom Vilom and Bhramari can increase vitality, reduce stress, and promote hormonal harmony.

5. Limit Stress - Stress management is crucial to managing PCOD. Incorporate practices like meditation, which calms the mind and supports endocrine function.

6. Detoxification - Regular detoxification or Panchakarma under a trained practitioner can clear the body’s toxins and harmonise the doshas. If feasible, consider semi-annual detox programs.

7. Monitoring and Professional Care - Since PCOD is a chronic condition, monitor symptoms and regularly consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner. In situations where symptoms intensify, immediate medical consultation is advisable, especially regarding irregular periods and severe acne or hairfall.

While Ayurvedic measures provide stability and long-term management, it’s vital to combine them with appropriate medical supervision to ensure comprehensive care.
