how i cured my glaucoma - #42290

I am really scared right now, been dealing with eye issues for a while. A couple of months ago, I got diagnosed with glaucoma. My doctor talked about pressure in my eyes being high and they prescribed some drops, but honestly, I feel like those aren’t doing much. Like, I’m freaking out because it feels like everything's blurry, especially at night, and I'm worried about my vision getting worse! I’ve been reading a lot, and I came across some forums where people were sharing stories about how they cured their glaucoma naturally. It’s confusing tho! I keep wondering HOW I cured my glaucoma just by changing my diet or trying out some herbs and stuff. I mean, can that even be true? I wanna know what folks have tried—what worked, what didn’t work, and if anyone has actually managed to lower their eye pressure without meds. Are there specific foods or practices that seem to help? Also, like, do you think I should be looking for a second opinion or stick with the current treatment? Just feeling lost and wanna make sure I take care of my eyes the best way possible. If anyone has similar experiences, please share!

While exploring natural remedies for glaucoma can seem intriguing, first and foremost, it is crucial to emphasize that glaucoma is a serious condition that can lead to vision loss if not managed properly. It’s important to continue following your ophthalmologist’s advice and not replace prescribed medications with any alternative therapies without consulting your doctor. Eye drops are typically prescribed to reduce intraocular pressure and slow the progression of glaucomatous damage, so give these treatments appropriate time while ensuring regular follow-ups to monitor their effectiveness for your condition.

In terms of Ayurveda, while there are certain dietary and lifestyle changes that may support eye health, they’re not a replacement for conventional treatment. However, you may consider incorporating these holistic approaches as complementary to your current regimen.

1. Diet plays a vital role. Consume foods rich in antioxidants such as dark leafy greens like spinach and kale, which may help protect retinal cells. Fruits such as berries (rich in vitamin C) and oranges may also be beneficial. Including carrots, loaded with beta-carotene, is a known wellness tip, though not a cure.

2. Consider Ayurvedic herbs that traditionally support eye health. Triphala is often used in Ayurveda for its beneficial effects on eye health. It’s typically taken as a powder mixed with warm water, usually at night. However, consult a healthcare provider before adding new supplements to ensure no interactions with your prescribed medications.

3. Practice eye exercises that relieve eye strain and improve circulation, though again these are supportive measures. Palming is a relaxation technique that involves rubbing hands together to generate warmth and gently placing palms over closed eyes.

4. Maintain a regular schedule for sleep and rest. Overexertion can lead to increased eye pressure and worsen symptoms.

Regarding seeking a second opinion, if you’re uncomfortable or unsure about your current treatment you’re receiving, consulting another qualified ophthalmologist for reassurance can never hurt. It ensures your condition is being managed optimally. Remember that diligent adherence to prescribed treatments, a balanced diet, stress management, and appropriate lifestyle changes will aid in maintaining eye health, and prevent complications associated with glaucoma progression.

When facing glaucoma, it’s important to understand that it’s a complex eye condition often linked to increased intraocular pressure, which can lead to optic nerve damage if not managed appropriately. While natural approaches may support overall eye health, they should ideally complement medical treatments rather than replace them. You should certainly have your medical treatment reviewed by your doctor; if concerned, a second opinion can also provide valuable perspective.

In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, managing conditions like glaucoma focuses on restoring balance to the body’s energies, which can support eye health. A key aspect involves balancing the doshas—primarily vata and pitta—which might impact the optic nerves. Consider integrating these approaches:

1. Dietary Adjustments: Incorporate green leafy vegetables, carrots, and beetroot, which are rich in antioxidants and can support eye health. These help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, indirectly aiding in pressure management.

2. Herbal Assistance: Triphala can be beneficial. You might take Triphala churna as a gentle digestive, which supports overall body equilibrium. Mix a teaspoon of Triphala churna in warm water and consume it at night.

3. Nasya Therapy: Nasya involves administering medicated oil (like Anu oil) in the nostrils, which helps pacify vata and pitta. Preferably done under expert supervision, it can have a calming effect on the mind, indirectly aiding ocular tension.

4. Eye Exercises & Rest: Gently rotate your eyes in circular motions, up and down, and side-to-side. Ensure regular breaks from screens and proper sleep, reducing strain significantly.

5. Yoga & Meditation: Practices like Trataka, a yogic practice, might benefit eye strength and focus. Again, it’s best when learned under professional instruction.

Medical treatments must not be ignored, as glaucoma progression can be silent but severe. Visit your eye specialist regularly to monitor the condition and adjust treatments as necessary. Discuss any natural health approaches with your doctor to ensure holistic care.
