Hello Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you’re dealing with. Bloating, foul-smelling gas, that burning in your stomach—it’s a lot, and I get how tough that can be.

First off, your symptoms point to a few classic issues in Ayurveda:

- Your digestive fire (Agni) is running low. - You’re building up Ama—basically, undigested gunk that turns toxic in your system. - Pitta, the heat element, is piling up in your stomach, especially as the day goes on.

You mentioned things get worse in the evenings, around 5 pm.

That’s usually when Pitta’s at its peak, especially if lunch didn’t digest well. Food starts to ferment, gas builds up, and the burning kicks in. When the gas smells especially bad, it’s a sign that both Ama and Pitta are teaming up in your gut.

What triggers all this? Here’s what I see:

- Eating at odd hours - Going heavy on spicy, oily, or fried foods—or anything fermented - Tea or coffee on an empty stomach - Late or oversized lunches - Stress, or ignoring your hunger cues - Weak digestion, even if your appetite feels normal

Now, let’s talk about what you can do.

1. To Calm Things Down (Shamana)

- Start your mornings with Jeeraka Siddha Jala. Just boil a teaspoon of cumin seeds in a liter of water, let it cool a bit, and sip on it through the day.

- After meals, try Avipattikar Churna—half a teaspoon with lukewarm water after lunch and dinner.

- If gas is the main problem, take a pinch of Hingvashtak Churna mixed with a little ghee just before lunch.

- Burning at night? Go for Shatavari Churna—half a teaspoon with warm milk or water before bed. These help cool Pitta and clear out Ama.

2. Diet & Lifestyle—This Part Matters Most

Stick with: - Warm, freshly cooked food - Rice gruel, moong dal, simple khichdi - Boiled veggies like bottle gourd, pumpkin, or ridge gourd - Buttermilk at lunch (make it thin and spice it up with roasted cumin)

Skip for the next 10–14 days:

- Anything spicy, fried, or oily - Onion, garlic, cabbage, cauliflower - Tea, coffee (especially after mid-afternoon) - Bakery stuff, cheese, and curd at night - Cold drinks or anything from the fridge

Daily Habits to Fire Up Digestion:

- Eat lunch between 12 and 1 pm - Don’t skip meals - Take a 10-minute walk after lunch - No napping in the afternoon - Keep dinner light and eat it before 7:30 pm

If Your Symptoms Don’t Let Up After Two Weeks - Get a stool test (to check for infection or too much fermentation) - Consider an H. pylori test if the burning is really bad - Do a basic liver function test if you keep getting acidity

you can turn this around if you get your digestion back on track early. With a bit of discipline around food and some simple Ayurvedic remedies, most people see improvement in a week or two.

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

your digestive system is currently irritated and out of balance… The bloating stinky gas and burning sensation in the evening usually point towards Agni imbalance or Ama accumulation, which means undigested food and toxins irritating the gut… Avoid fried, spicy, heavy food, late meals, junk food and cold drinks…Eat light warm, easily digestible meals like khichdi, soups, porridge and cooked vegetables… Avoid raw salads or heavy pulses…

Sip warm water throughout the day This helps digestion and flushes out toxins…

Triphala powder half teaspoon with warm water at night helps bowel movement and detoxifies gently Himalayan or rock salt pinch in warm water before meals can stimulate digestion… Ajwain or cumin fennel seeds can be chewed or infused in warm water after meals to reduce gas…

Avoid eating late in the evening and allow at least 3 hours gap before bedtime…

With consistent diet changes warm water intake and herbal support digestion usually normalizes in a few days and gas and bloating reduce gradually…

The smell indicates that food is not digesting but putrefying (rotting) in the colon due to weak Agni (Fire). The 5 PM burning suggests that when the stomach empties, the residual acid is irritating the lining.

Medicines Avipattikar Churna: 1 teaspoon at bedtime with warm water. Sutshekhar Ras (Plain): 1 tablet twice daily (30 mins Before Meals). Lavan Bhaskar Churna: ½ teaspoon twice daily (After Meals). Mix with fresh Buttermilk (Takra).

Dietary & Lifestyle Advice Stop Tea/Coffee: Do not drink tea/coffee at 4-5 PM. This is the primary trigger for your evening burning. Substitute: Drink Fennel (Saunf) Water or have a calm, cool fruit like a Banana or Pomegranate at this time. Dinner: Since you have stinky gas, your system is overloaded. Eat a very light dinner (Moong Dal Soup or Khichdi) for the next 3 days until the smell disappears.
