In Ayurveda snoring is not just as a mechanical problem, but as a sign of underlying imbalance, usually linked with Block nasal passages, disturbed digestion, weak muscle tone in the throat and aggravated vata and kapha energy in the upper respiratory tract When kapha becomes successive due to reasons like late night, eating heavy means lack of physical activity or accumulation of mucus. It leads to narrowing of the airway. The vibration during breathing then creates the snoring sound over time. These can version with age weight gain, nasal allergies or even dryness and weakness in throat muscle caused by vata imbalance

The first step is to cleanse and open the nasal channels before bedtime, you can do Nasya - place, 2 drops of warm Anu Taila or plane warm cow ghee in each nostril, while lying down with your head slightly tilted back this lubricate, the nasal track improves air flow, and strengthen the throat and neck region. Continue this daily for at least three months

During the day, try steam with a pinch of turmeric and once daily Drink warm water infused with few Tulsi leaves, dry ginger, and a pinch of black pepper throughout the day Avoid cold food curd and refrigerator items at night If there is a frequent throat clearing, or a feeling of mucous, take Sithophaladi churna-1/4 th teaspoon with honey after meals If your digestion is luggage or there is a bloating, then take Hingwastaka churna-half teaspoon with warm water twice daily after food

If you’re overweight or have noticed an increase in snoring after weight and try to include light evening box or yoga, Sanas Bujjaina Sana Setubandasana ustrasana Take triphala churna-1 teaspoon with warm water at night Avoid sleeping immediately after dinner and try to sleep on your left side rather than flat on your back Before bedtime, take warm milk, boiled in turmeric and a pinch of black pepper You can also do gentle gargling with warm water

Ayurveda also emphasises correcting the root cause if your digestion sleeps cycle or nasal. Health disturb those need balancing for long-term relief with consistent nasal care balance that war water habits and simple lifestyle collections. Most people notice 60 to 80% improvement within a few months and in some cases, complete resolution.

Hello Raajesh ji, In ayurveda,we focus on identifying and working on the root cause for permanent cure. So, let’s see the main reasons behind snoring - . Obesity . Sleeping position - sleeping on the back blocks the airway partially & cause snoring . Age related loss of muscle tone . Alcohol or sedative use . Chronic congestion due to cold, allergy, deviated nasal septum . Anatomical reason -Thick soft palate & large tonsils

I recommend the following in this case- TREATMENT - 1. Anu tail- 2-2 drops in each nostril at bedtime ( atleast 2 hrs gap with dinner)

Yoga- Bhramri, Anulomvilom, bhastrika, ujjayi, bhujangasan

Lifestyle modifications - . Avoid sleeping on the back, sleep on left side. . Clean your nostrils and oral cavity before sleeping and apply Anu tail in the nostrils. . Reduce weight of you are overweight. . Avoid alcohol or other addiction.

To tackle loud snoring effectively, Ayurveda often attributes such disturbances to an imbalance in the Vata and Kapha doshas. Snoring is frequently related to lifestyle and dietary habits that aggravate these doshas. Start first with examining your evening routines. Avoid heavy meals, dairy products, and cold or oily foods at least three hours before going to bed. These tend to increase Kapha, which can cause blockages in the respiratory pathways.

Use warm, light, and easily digestible food in your dinner, like a vegetable soup or moong dal khichdi. Also, try consuming a glass of warm turmeric milk before sleeping. Add a pinch of black pepper and turmeric to enhance its effects.

Herbs such as Tulsi (Basil), Ginger, and Black Pepper can help reduce mucus build-up. Boil a few Tulsi leaves with ginger slices and a pinch of black pepper to create a soothing tea; drink it daily in the evening.

Pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom, is an excellent way to improve respiratory function and balance the Vata-Kapha imbalance causing snoring. Practicing this breathing technique for 10-15 minutes before bed can enhance airflow and reduce nasal blockages.

Creating a more suitable sleeping environment is also crucial. Elevate your head slightly with an extra pillow to facilitate better airflow, ensuring the nasal passages remain open. Consider using a humidifier in your room if it’s dry, as dryness can exacerbate snoring.

Daily Nasya, an Ayurvedic practice of lubrication, involves applying a few drops of warm sesame oil or ghee into each nostril. This practice can help clear nasal passages, making breathing easier.

Finally, ensure your sleeping pattern is consistent — going to bed and waking up at the same time can help maintain your body’s natural rhythm. Implementing these Ayurvedic strategies can notably reduce snoring, but if this issue persists, consulting with a healthcare professional is wise to rule out possible underlying conditions such as sleep apnea.

Snoring often occurs when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is partially obstructed. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, this can be related to imbalances in the kapha dosha which governs the structures in the body, including tissues such as the nasal passages, throat, and sinuses. To manage snoring, let’s consider a few steps that can help stabilize this dosha.

First, examining your daily routine can be a good starting point. Try to avoid heavy, kapha-provoking foods at night, like dairy, fried foods, and sweets, as these can increase mucous and worsen snoring. Instead, opt for lighter meals, particularly at dinner, that are easier to digest, such as soups or steamed vegetables. Add warming spices like ginger or black pepper to your meals to help reduce kapha imbalance.

Practicing pranayama, particularly the Anulom Vilom or Alternate Nostril Breathing, can help clear nasal passageways, improve airflow, and balance energy channels (nadis) before bed. Make sure to perform this breathing exercise for about 5 to 10 minutes daily to notice change.

Another beneficial remedy can be using nasya, or medicinal oil drops, administered in the nose. Anu taila, a traditional Ayurvedic nasal oil, can be effective in alleviating nasal blockages. Apply 2-3 drops in each nostril each morning, particularly in dry seasons.

Lastly, maintaining a suitable sleeping environment with a humidifier can help keep your nasal passages from becoming too dry. Elevating the head of the bed or sleeping with an extra pillow might also make a difference in airflow.

If snoring is severe or causes sleep apnea, it’s crucial to visit a healthcare professional, as these conditions may require more immediate medical attention. Consider these Ayurvedic suggestions as complementary to conventional approaches for best results.
