Seeking Relief from Post-Nasal Drip and Digestive Issues - #51965

Hello, I have been suffering from post-nasal drip for a long time. A sticky phlegm constantly accumulates in my throat, and I have to cough it out frequently. Throughout the day, a transparent mucus keeps forming in my throat. In addition, I experience bloating after eating almost any food. Consuming sweets creates a sour taste in my mouth, and even mildly spicy food tends to aggravate my system, so I avoid it. My bowel movements are regular, but I usually need to visit the toilet two to three times a day. In the morning, after waking up, I notice a thin white coating on my tongue along with phlegm accumulation in my throat. My main concern is that this phlegm causes an unpleasant odor in my mouth. So, I need a remedy which will heal my vata and kapha and pitta.

1. Dadimashtak churna 5 gm twice a day with water. 2. Bilva churna 3 gm twice a day with water. These symptoms indicates ajeerna, means incomplete digestion.your cotted tongue indiactes aam dosha in your body. What to follow - buttermilk with saindhav , take yavagu of rice, your time of lunch and dinner should be fixed. Not to do - avoid spicy and fast food, don’t eat if you don’t have appetite.

Thanks Doctor, for your prompt response. In the past I have tried sitopaladi churna. some ingredients in that medicine viz. pippali trigger my pitta. Also, I have observed that honey triggers my pitta. Also, maricha , shunthi, cardamom included in ‘Talisadi churna’ triggers my pitta. Avipattikar churna. I have tried. it works well with me. So, Sitopaladi and Talisadi may not work well with me. As it will trigger my sensitive pitta.

Avoid chilled, dairy and bakery products. Steam inhalation twice a day. Regular exercise. Use boiled water for drinking. Increase intake of raw vegetables and fruits. Tab.Bresol 2-0-2 Tab.Septillin 2-0-2 Follow up after 2 weeks.

Thank you, Doctor, for your prompt reply. I appreciate your sincere compliment for my detailed description. I thought it will take a long time for my query to be answered. But I am surprised by all the prompt replies I have received from most of the doctors here. I feel really grateful to all the doctors here. You were right in saying that my digestive fire is weak and I need a remedy that will cater to improve my digestive fire, remove toxins and remove excess kapha. I have been already following most of the recommendations listed by you viz. avoiding dairy products etc. And yes, I drink warm water throughout the day. As I am sensitive to ushna ingredients in some of the medicines recommended by you viz. Talisadi. I hope that doesn’t trigger my pitta. I thank you, once again for taking time to reply to my query. 1.Sitopladi churna 1 tsp twice daily with honey 2.Agastaya haritaki 1 tsp with warm milk empty stomach in the morning 3.Haridra khand 1 tsp with warm milk at bedtime 4.Hingwashtak churna 1/2 tsp twice daily with warm water before meals 5.Anu taila 2 drops in each nostril once in the morning Diet Tips– - Avoid: Cold drinks, curd, sweets, fried food, excess spices. - Include: Warm, light meals; moong dal khichdi; cooked vegetables; ginger tea; cumin-fennel water. Namaste, Your symptoms of post-nasal drip, sticky phlegm, bloating, and sour taste suggest a mix of kapha (mucus) accumulation and weak digestion. Simple measures that may help: Avoid sweets, cold foods, dairy, and very heavy meals, as they increase mucus. Prefer warm, light, and freshly cooked food. Sip warm water throughout the day to reduce phlegm. Do steam inhalation once daily to help clear nasal passages. Use warm salt water gargling to reduce throat mucus and odor. Avoid eating late at night and keep a gap of 2–3 hours before sleep. Add mild spices like ginger, black pepper, and cumin to improve digestion. Your white tongue coating and bloating indicate ama (undigested toxins), so improving digestion is key. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support this condition include: Sitopaladi Churna – traditionally used to support respiratory health and reduce phlegm. Avipattikar Churna – sometimes used to support digestion and reduce acidity. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.
