Namaste, thank you for reaching out and trusting this platform with your Patient care I understand, how challenging it must be to go through multiple laser surgeries and then experience almost complete voice loss Even though the cancer has been removed, the Larynx tissue has been scarred and weekend, which is why the voice is faint and easily fatigued… in Ayurveda disease, seen as a damage and dryness in the throat tissues, depletion of ojas and vitiation of vata and pitta in the throat region The goal now is to support tissue. Healing reduce inflammation, strength, the local cards and improve overall stamina for speaking without training the voice.

The men herbal powder which you are mentioned licorice Ashwagandha, Tulsi, and ginger can indeed help in gentle healing and rejuvenation of throat tissues Can use licorice powder half teaspoon twice daily with warm water after food Ashwagandha churna/ avaleha 1 teaspoon with warm milk at night Tulsi juice 10 ML once daily Use fresh ginger in diet, even he can drink as ginger tea. Avoid its excessive use as it may irritate. Additional recommendation like avoid prolonged talking, whispering, which can strain healing tissues Keep the throat moist with warm water sip, honey, if tolerated or herbal tea Avoid cold drinks, excessive Cafe and dry or spicy food that irritate the throat Gentle voice therapy exercise exercises with a speech therapist, if possible can you greatly help in regaining clarity over time

With consistent Care, the throat tissue can slowly regain strength and voice can become clearer and stronger Healing after laser surgery, Is is gradually so patience and support are essential

Hello Thank you for your compassionate effort to help your friend recover naturally after laryngeal surgery. It’s heartening to know that the cancer has been cleared — now the focus should be on healing the throat tissue

Hence, the treatment aims to- Soothe inflammation Heal mucosa and strengthen vocal cords Lubricate throat and airways Restore Prana and voice function

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

You mentioned Licorice (Yashtimadhu), Ashwagandha, Tulsi, and Ginger — these are excellent starting herbs. Here’s how they can be used safely for this condition:

✅ Yashtimadhu (Licorice Powder) ½ tsp powder with 1 tsp honey + 1 tsp warm water, twice daily after meals. Coats and soothes throat mucosa, reduces inflammation, promotes vocal cord healing.

✅ Ashwagandha Churna ½ tsp with warm milk or water at night, after meals. Enhances vitality, strengthens respiratory and nervous systems, promotes recovery from fatigue post-surgery.

✅ Tulsi Boil 5–6 Tulsi leaves or ½ tsp powder in 1 cup water. Sip warm twice daily. Clears mucus, prevents secondary throat infections, improves immunity.

✅ Ginger (Shunthi or Fresh Adraka) A mild infusion — Boil 2 thin slices of fresh ginger in 1 cup water for 5 mins; add honey when lukewarm. Take once daily only (avoid excessive use as it can dry throat post-surgery). Reduces Kapha, clears mild congestion, improves circulation in throat area.

✅Additional Ayurvedic Supportive Herbs (If Available)

Talisadi churna: For soothing the airways and improving tone of voice – ¼ tsp with honey twice daily.

Kanthasudha vati (Ayurvedic throat lozenges): To keep throat lubricated during the day.

✅ External and Supportive Measures

Warm oil steam inhalation (Nadi Sweda): Use 2 drops of eucalyptus or tulsi oil in hot water for 5 minutes once daily to ease inflammation.

Gargles: With lukewarm water + pinch of turmeric + pinch of salt twice daily.

Avoid speaking for long durations, especially in the morning. Let vocal cords rest.

✅ DIET AND LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION

✅ Include

Warm soups (moong dal, vegetable broth, rice gruel). Ghee or small amounts of cow’s butter to lubricate throat. Milk boiled with turmeric, cardamom, and pinch of licorice powder. Fresh fruits like pomegranate, sweet grapes, and ripe banana (room temperature). Warm water for sipping — avoid cold water at all times.

❌Avoid: Cold, sour, and spicy food. Excess talking, whispering, shouting, and air-conditioned rooms. Coffee, alcohol, and dry snacks.

✅ Home Remedy Blend (Daily Use)

Mix equal parts of Licorice + Ashwagandha (½ tsp each). Take this mixture with warm milk and 1 tsp honey once daily at bedtime. This works as a gentle Rasayana for tissue healing and vocal recovery.

With soothing herbs like Yashtimadhu, nourishing tonics like Ashwagandha, and voice-restorative measures, steady recovery and improvement in vocal clarity are achievable.

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

For post-larynx surgery recovery and voice restoration, the herbs you mention can be quite beneficial when used appropriately. In Ayurveda, licorice (Yashtimadhu) is well-regarded for soothing and healing upper respiratory tract issues. This could aid in reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair. Prepare a soothing tea by boiling 1/2 teaspoon of licorice powder in a cup of water, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Cool it suitably before drinking. It’s best consumed twice daily for its soothing properties.

Ashwagandha, a powerful adaptogen, can assist in supporting overall vitality and resilience post-surgery. However, it does not directly impact vocal recovery. As its general dose, mix 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder with warm water or milk, preferably taken in the evening to help with rest and strength recovery.

Tulsi can help in boosting immunity and has a gentle expectorant effect. Prepare a decoction by boiling a handful of tulsi leaves with 1 cup of water and drink once daily. Combined with ginger, this can further enhance voice clarity. Add a small slice of fresh ginger to the tulsi decoction, allowing it to boil together.

It’s crucial to note that while these herbs are supportive, they should not replace medical follow-up care. Ensure the daily dosages do not exceed recommended amounts, and observe the effects over 2-4 weeks. Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner as needed for personalized insights, especially given that the patient has had cancer treatment history.

Additionally, focusing on rest and avoiding strain on the vocal cords is essential. Incorporate warm soups and easily digestible foods, while avoiding foods that may irritate the throat, like spicy, fried or very cold items. Stay hydrated, and consider gentle vocal exercises after medical clearance to gradually build back vocal strength.

Based on Siddha-Ayurvedic principles, supporting the recovery of the voice post-larynx surgery involves understanding vata dosha and its influence on air and communication within the body. The herbs you’ve mentioned can indeed support the rejuvenation of the voice by balancing doshas and supporting tissue healing.

Licorice (Mulethi) is particularly beneficial for soothing the throat and supporting the vocal cords. You can prepare a tea by adding half a teaspoon of licorice powder to a cup of warm water. Let it steep for about 10 minutes and strain before drinking. Consume this once or twice daily. Licorice has demulcent and anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce irritation.

Ashwagandha, known for its adaptogenic and rejuvenative qualities, can support overall recovery and strengthen kapha to maintain structure in tissues. A quarter teaspoon of ashwagandha powder can be taken with warm milk or water at night.

Tulsi is known for its immunomodulatory and expectorant properties. It can be consumed as tea. Boil a few tulsi leaves in a cup of water, strain, and drink daily. Tulsi can also help reduce inflammation.

Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and could stimulate circulation, though it may be heating for some with pitta imbalances. Use cautiously if there’s any burning sensation. You can grate a small piece for tea or add a pinch of ginger powder to warm water and honey for a soft drink.

Before considering any dosage, make sure there’s no contraindication from existing medications or conditions, especially considering an immune-related history. Also, since the voice loss might have complex underpinnings post-surgery, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare provider regarding persistent symptoms and integrative approaches including these herbs. If voice doesn’t improve, further evaluation may be necessary.
