It sounds like your skin is experiencing a bit of imbalance, likely pertaining to Vata dosha, which tends to cause dryness and roughness. The black spots could be post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, a common aftermath of prolonged scratching.
Firstly, focus on addressing the dryness by nourishing the skin in and out. Include healthy fats like ghee, olive oil and nuts into your diet; they support skin hydration. Consider drinking warm herbal infusions like ginger and tulsi, which can improve your digestive fire—agni—and help in overall detoxification.
For topical relief, applying an oil massage—abhyanga—with sesame or coconut oil daily can be beneficial. Do it before showering, allowing the oil to sit for about 15-20 minutes so it nourishes the skin well. Post shower, gently pat dry and you could use an ayurvedic moisturizer containing aloe vera or coconut without harsh preservatives.
To lighten the spots, a mix of turmeric and honey, both renowned for their antiseptic and brightening properties, can be applied on affected areas. Leave the paste on for 10-15 minutes, and carefully wash off with lukewarm water. Be cautious with turmeric to prevent staining.
Lifestyle alterations such as sticking to a routine, adequate hydration, and moderate exercise like yoga can be helpful. It's crucial to reduce stress, as it can exacerbate both itching and pigmentation. Consider incorporating meditation or pranayama into your daily routine to aid relaxation.
If your condition persists, a thorough consultation with an ayurvedic physician would be necessary; there could be a deeper dosha imbalance or underlying issue that needs attention. Remember to be patient with these remedies, as Ayurveda promotes slow yet sustainable healing processes.
