Cataract - #21528

Karynne

My doctor told me there is a a tiny dot of cataract in my eye. He said that the cataract is too small to do surgery. Is there any treatments to remove it or stop it's growth. It can be natural treatments or other treatment.

Ah, cataracts can be a bit daunting at first, but don’t worry too much. Since it’s just a tiny dot now and surgery’s not an option yet, you’re in a good spot to try some natural ways to slow down its progression. Ayurveda sure can offer some handy tips for this. But remember, while these might help, keep in touch with your eye doctor and let them know what you’re trying.

First thing, your diet can play a role. Loads of fresh, green veggies and fruits are a must. They contain antioxidants like beta-carotene, vitamin C, and E, which are kinda like natural warriors against those free radicals. Carrots, spinach, oranges - these should be regulars on your plate! Amalaki, or Indian gooseberry, is another biggie in Ayurveda, known for its high vitamin C content. You can take it as fresh fruit, dried form or even in chyawanprash if you’re up for it.

And ghee. Good, old ghee! Especially Triphala ghee could be useful. One teaspoon on an empty stomach in the morning, might help your eyes and overall health too.

Regular eye exercises - like palming and focusing on distant objects - might be useful. It helps in keeping eye muscles in good shape. Try to do this daily, maybe whenever you take a break from the screen if you’re like most of us spending a lotta time on them.

Take care of your lifestyle too! Limiting smoking and alcohol is essential, as they’re known to affect eye health. Make sure you’re well hydrated and manage stress effectively - that’s super important, coz stress can mess with everything, from digestion to eye health.

Also, yoga can be your ally here. Poses like Palming and Yawning (yes, there’s a yoga pose for it!), and even just basic meditation can be beneficial.

Chat with an Ayurvedic practitioner too. They might recommend herbal formulations like Triphala, which is quite famous for overall health balance and might lend a hand in keeping those cataracts at bay.

Stay consistent, and take baby steps with these lifestyle changes. Regular check-ups with your eye doctor will keep you on the right track.
