HELLO RIJIA,
For an Abhyanga full-body oil massage, female guests are typically provided with disposable undergarments and professionally draped with sheets or towels.
TAKE CARE😊
Kind Regards, Dr.Isha Ashok Bhardwaj.
During an Abhyanga massage, clients, including women, are generally provided with minimal attire to allow for the application of oil over the entire body. Typically, a disposable undergarment like paper or thin fabric briefs is provided for female guests. This ensures comfort, modesty, and efficient application of oils, while also maintaining hygiene, as these garments are intended for single use only. The practitioner may also provide or arrange towels or sheets for draping different areas of the body, preserving privacy throughout the session.
The focus in Abhyanga is on saturating the body with warm medicated oils, which enhance the massage’s therapeutic benefits. The practitioner will use large quantities of oil, working it into the skin through specific strokes that align with the body’s energy channels or srotas. To facilitate this, minimal clothing is advisable as it allows the oil to reach the skin directly and optimally.
If you have any concerns regarding attire or modesty, it’s always a good idea to communicate with the spa beforehand. Some spas might have slightly different protocols based on cultural sensitivities and preferences. Also, be mindful of choosing an Ayurvedic facility with trained practitioners to ensure the treatment aligns with your unique doshic balance—vata, pitta, and kapha—as Abhyanga is intended to harmonize the body’s energies.
