Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
The concept of ‘virya’ in Ayurveda refers to both the essence of vitality and reproductive fluids. Loss of virya without sexual activity can be associated with an imbalance in Vata dosha, particularly due to past habits leading to depletion and dryness. This can also affect your mental and physical energy levels.
Constipation, on the other hand, is often linked to Vata imbalance as well, which brings dryness and irregularity to the colon. The lack of regular bowel movements you are experiencing suggests that your digestive fire, or ‘agni’, might be weak, leading to the accumulation of ‘ama’ or toxins in the body.
Together, these symptoms indicate a systemic Vata imbalance, exacerbated by past addictions and lifestyle factors. This imbalance can lead to a cycle of dryness, depletion, and irregularity in both digestive and reproductive systems.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How long have you been experiencing virya loss? Please specify if it’s been less than 1 week, 1-4 weeks, 1-6 months, or more than 6 months. 2. How often do you have bowel movements? Is it daily, every few days, once a week, or less than once a week? 3. How would you describe your constipation? Is it mild with occasional difficulty, moderate with frequent discomfort, severe with very hard stools, or chronic with ongoing issues? 4. Have you noticed any triggers for your constipation such as dietary choices, lack of physical activity, stress, or no clear triggers? 5. What is your current diet like? Is it high in fiber (fruits, vegetables), balanced but low in fiber, high in processed foods, or are you unsure? 6. How would you rate your stress levels? Are they low and relaxed, moderate with some stress, high and frequently stressed, or very high and overwhelming? 7. Have you tried any treatments or remedies for virya loss or constipation? If yes, were they home remedies, lifestyle changes, over-the-counter medication, or prescribed medication or therapy?
Your detailed responses will help in crafting a personalized and effective Ayurvedic approach to regain balance and vitality.
1. i have been experiencing this virya loss for a month now, it would happend even before this too but that was occasional but from last 20 25 days it is very frequent almost everyday. 2. i have bowl moments daily even two to 3 times a day. The problem is i can always feel that my stomach hasn’t been clear completely and also i have to apply a lot of force to get the motions. 3. This problem with motions is comparatively recent, for last 1 week I would say. 4. I don’t feel any trigger for it too, as my diet though is not perfect but it has been the same for almost a year or two with decent fibre content around 20gm. 5. Diet is balanced but yes with some less fibre than required 6. Normally i feel stress not very often I remain calm and happy but because of this situation particularly for last 2 3 months I have been very very stressed. 7. i have not tried anything as such l, just some quantity of fruits and a bit of physical exercise.
