🌱 What Kala Gond (Edible Gum) Does - Traditionally used in Ayurveda for joint pain, bone strength, and recovery after weakness. - Provides collagen support, lubrication, and helps strengthen connective tissues. - Often combined with milk, ghee, or laddoo preparations for better absorption.

✅ Safe Quantity (General Guidance) - Kala Gond powder is usually taken in small amounts. - ½ teaspoon once daily is considered safe to start for adults. - Maximum: 1 teaspoon per day, not more, especially at your age. - Always take it with warm milk or ghee (not plain water) to aid digestion and joint nourishment.

AT YOUR AGE AND WITH SEVERE KNEE PAIN IT IS IMPORTANT TO START GENTLY YOU MAY TAKE KALA GOND POWDER IN A DOSE OF ONE FOURTH TEASPOON ONCE DAILY MIXED WITH LUKEWARM MILK OR LUKEWARM WATER AFTER FOOD PREFERABLY AT NIGHT PLEASE DO NOT TAKE IT ON EMPTY STOMACH THIS HERB WORKS BY NOURISHING AND LUBRICATING THE JOINTS SO RESULTS ARE GRADUAL CONTINUE FOR TEN TO FOURTEEN DAYS AND OBSERVE YOUR DIGESTION IF YOU FEEL HEAVINESS BLOATING OR DISCOMFORT STOP IT AND INFORM ME DO NOT EXCEED HALF TEASPOON IN A DAY AND UNDERSTAND THAT WITH DEBILITATING PAIN KALA GOND ALONE IS NOT SUFFICIENT IT NEEDS SUPPORT FROM OTHER INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL MEASURES I WILL GUIDE YOU FURTHER BASED ON YOUR RESPONSE

At 66 years of age Kala Gond should be taken in a small and controlled dose especially since this is your first attempt…

You can take half teaspoon once daily… Best way to take Roast the kala gond lightly until it puffs Powder it finely and take it once daily for 4 weeks and observe response… If digestion is comfortable and there is no heaviness or bloating it can be continued…

Since your knee pain is severe and limiting movement kala gond alone will not be sufficient… It mainly helps lubrication and nourishment… Pain relief and mobility usually need additional support like oil massage, light movement and internal anti inflammatory support…

Hello I’m really sorry you’re going through this much pain with your right knee. At 66, pain like this can really get in the way of daily life. With the right care, things can get better.

Here’s what you’ve told me:

- You’re 66. - This right knee pain started 1–4 weeks ago. - It’s so bad, moving around is tough. - This is your first time trying a remedy. - You want to know exactly how much Kala Gond powder to take, in teaspoons.

What’s going on, from an Ayurveda perspective:

Ayurveda says knee pain at your age often comes from something called Sandhigata Vata. As we get older, Vata dosha tends to increase. The joints lose lubrication, cartilage dries out, and the tissues around the knee get weaker. That’s when pain, stiffness, and trouble moving sneak in.

Kala Gond (edible gum) is known for two things: it nourishes the body and builds strength. When you use it right, it can help with weak and aching joints.

How much Kala Gond powder should you take?

For you, the safe dose is ¼ to ½ teaspoon, once a day. Don’t go over ½ teaspoon a day at the start.

How to take it (the simple way):

1. The usual method: - Take ¼ to ½ teaspoon Kala Gond powder. - Mix it into warm milk. - Drink it at night after dinner.

2. If you can’t have milk: - Mix it into warm water instead. - You can add a pinch of dry ginger powder if you want.

A few important things:

Kala Gond is heavy on digestion. Start with ¼ teaspoon for the first week. If your stomach feels fine, you can go up to ½ teaspoon. But if you have severe indigestion, stubborn constipation, or diabetes (unless your doctor says it’s okay), stay away from Kala Gond.

What you can expect from Kala Gond:

It will help nourish your joints, ease dryness, and slowly build strength. But it won’t give you instant relief, and if there’s a lot of inflammation, it can’t fix severe pain on its own. So, see it as a support, not a cure-all.

Extra tips, since your pain is pretty severe:

- Don’t squat or climb stairs right now. - Use a warm compress on your knee twice a day. - Don’t push yourself to walk too much while it’s really painful. - If pain stays bad or your knee swells up, see an orthopaedic doctor to make sure there’s nothing more serious going on, like a fracture or bad arthritis.

Ayurvedic care works best when you calm Vata (with oil, warmth, and rest), use nourishing herbs, and start treatment early—like you’re doing now.

To sum up: - Take ¼–½ teaspoon Kala Gond powder once a day. - Best with warm milk at night. - Start low and increase slowly. - Use it alongside other treatments, not by itself.

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Kala Gond is extremely potent, bitter and hot in nature. Taking it in teaspoon quantities can cause severe diarrhea, gastric ulcers or dizziness.

Correct Dosage Take only 0.5 gram per dose. This is roughly the size of a Black Pepper corn (Kali Mirch) or a small Chickpea (Chana). Frequency: Twice daily (Morning and Night).

How to Take: Dissolve this small piece in half a cup of Warm Water. Drink it after meals.

You need local relief immediately: Mahanarayan Taila: Warm this oil and massage your knee gently for 15 minutes. Hot Fomentation: After the massage, apply a hot water bag or hot towel for 10 minutes. This will relax the stiffness (Stambha) allowing you to move.

If you notice loose stools or burning in the stomach, stop the Kala Gond immediately and switch to Shallaki (Boswellia), which is safer for long-term use at your age.

Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

HELLO,

Kala gond ais traditionally used In Indian hoeme remedies to support joint strength and bone heath. However it is not a medicine , and evidence is mostly traditional, nt clinical

SUGGESTED QUANTITY IN TEASPOONS for someone 66 years old, starting for the first time

START WITH -1/2 tsp once daily

If well tolerated after 3-5 days no bloating, constipation, or stomach discomfort

-increase to 1 tsp per day -Do not exceed 1 tsp dail

HOW TO TAKE IT Common traditional method -lightly roast the kala gond -powder it -mix 1/2-1 tsp with= warm milk or warm water (You may add a pinch of turmeric or dry ginger )

DURATION -try for 2-3 weeks -If there is no improvement, or pain remains debilitating, stop and seek advice

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES Given your symptoms -knee pain is debilitating and limiting movement -pain started 1-4 weeks ago -no prior treatment tried

This level of pain needs medical evaluation . causes like severe arthritis, ligament injury, gout, or infection cannot be ruled out and cannot be treated with kala gond alone

DO NOT USE KALA GOND OF -you have uncontrolled diabetes -you suffer from chronic constipation -you develop gas, heaviness, or abdominal pain after taking it

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
