I am feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out how to make karela juice. A few days ago, I went to my friend’s house and tasted this really bitter juice she swore by for health benefits. It was karela juice, and oddly enough, now I can't stop thinking about it. I’ve got some lingering health issues, like a bit of fatigue and occasional indigestion, and I read somewhere that karela could help with that. But honestly, the bitterness kinda freaks me out! So, I’m wondering, how to make karela juice in a way that's not just drinkable but maybe even enjoyable? Like, do I need to add anything to take the edge off the bitterness, like some honey or lemon? Or do you guys have any secret tips to make it taste better? I tried reading a bit, but it’s all so confusing, and I want to make sure I’m doing it right. Any insights on how to make karela juice that's palatable would be AMAZING! Thanks a bunch!

Wash them thoroughly under running water. Then, cut the karela lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and white pith since these parts are intensely bitter. You can retain some of the inner white membrane if you don’t mind a bit extra bitterness for added health benefits.

For preparing the juice, chop the karela into small pieces and toss them in a blender. A good tip is to add a small amount of salt after slicing to reduce bitterness — let them rest for about 15-20 minutes and rinse again. Now, for the taste factor, adding some lemon juice can brighten the flavor and balance the bitterness. Honey is also a natural sweetener in Ayurveda and can enhance taste while exerting a soothing effect on the body. You can include a piece of ginger to make it spicy and help with digestion issues you mentioned.

Add half a cup of water to the blender, alongside a pinch of black salt or rock salt for taste, which is easier on digestion. Once blended to a smooth consistency, strain the mixture through a fine sieve or cloth to remove the pulp.

Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for maximum benefits. However, start with small amounts to see how your body responds. If it feels too intense, consider diluting it further.

Remember, while introducing karela juice into your diet could help with digestion and energy levels, individual experiences vary. If you have a specific medical condition or are on medications (especially for diabetes), consult your healthcare provider as karela can influence blood sugar levels. Also, try to maintain regularity with your eating habits and stay hydrated to support overall digestion.
