In cases of cervical spondylosis, with symptoms like nerve pain radiating to the elbow and shoulder and a herniated disc, tailoring treatment to your specific needs is important. Since you've already tried various therapies like Panchakarma and others, let's look at some Ayurvedic approaches that might be helpful alongside your ongoing treatments. For pain relief and to reduce inflammation, Dashamoolarishta might be beneficial. This herbal decoction is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. You might consider taking 15-20 ml with an equal amount of warm water after meals, but it's crucial to consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance, especially if you are taking other medications. Your diet plays an important role in managing spondylosis. Focus on a vata-pacifying diet, which includes warm, cooked and easily digestible foods. Warm soups, moong dal khichdi, and cooked vegetables like carrots, spinach and zucchini might be great options. Avoid cold, dry and raw foods which can aggravate Vata. Including spices like turmeric and ginger can also help with inflammation and improve circulation. Incorporate daily Abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil; this can be soothing for nerve pain and support the nervous system. Following up Abhyanga with a warm bath or shower can enhance its benefits. Pranayama, especially deep breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom, can help enhance oxygen supply and reduce stress, which may alleviate symptoms. Try to spend 5 to 10 minutes daily for these exercises. Whilst handling this condition, continues engaging with your physiotherapist and other healthcare providers, as an integrative approach often works best. Consider reducing prolonged screen time and ensuring correct ergonomics if desk work is involved, to prevent further strain on your neck and shoulders. Do note that while Ayurvedic treatments can be beneficial, any sudden intensification of symptoms should prompt immediate medical assessment to rule out any serious complications.
