Focusing on your mother's recovery from the ureteric stone removal and her upcoming gallbladder surgery, it's important to support her overall well-being with some simple Ayurvedic approaches. Considering her age and medical condition, safety and gentle care are paramount. First, encourage hydration. Drinking warm water infused with a few fresh coriander leaves can help support detoxification. Warm water promotes agni (digestive fire), and coriander can aid in cooling the system, which is beneficial after her recent fever. Diet is crucial, so emphasize light, easily digestible meals. Kichadi, a mix of rice and mung dal, is calming for digestion, and can be seasoned lightly with cumin and turmeric to aid digestion and inflammation. Encourage small, frequent meals instead of large ones to manage her blood sugar levels effectively. Given her diabetes, maintain a careful balance of foods that do not spike glucose levels. Fenugreek seeds (methi) soaked overnight, consumed in the morning, can assist in maintaining blood sugar levels. However, always ensure any dietary additions are okay given her medical regimen. For immune support, regularly offering a warm herbal tea with tulsi (holy basil), ginger, and a pinch of turmeric can be beneficial. These ingredients have anti-inflammatory and immunity-boosting properties. Gentle, regular movement is important. Encourage light walking, if she can, daily. This can enhance circulation and help improve overall vitality. Pranayama, or deep breathing exercises, such as Anulom Vilom, can assist in reducing stress and promoting calmness. Yet, ensure she's comfortable with any new activity level. Lastly, plenty of rest is cruscial; a well-rested body has a better chance for healing. Create a restful sleeping environment with dimmed lights, and Ayurveda suggests using a light sesame oil application on the soles of feet for relaxation before bedtime. It's essential for her to have close medical supervision, so stay in touch with her healthcare professionals especially for any new symtpoms or concerns that arise.
