does curd has protein - #25238

Elizabeth

I am really confused about this whole thing with curd! Like, I never thought about it much until my friend started telling me how important protein is in one's diet. Recently, I decided to take a closer look at my eating habits, and I kinda realized I eat a lot of curd. But now I am wonderin', does curd has protein? I’ve been feeling a bit tired lately, and I'm thinking that maybe I should boost my protein intake to feel better! I've seen some fancy posts on social media where people say, "curd is a good source of protein!" but then I come across other stuff that makes me think twice. Last week, I even looked at the nutrition labels in my fridge, and was puzzled because some had different protein levels. Should I be counting curd as a major source of protein in my meals or primarily looking at other things? And also, can curd help with digestion too? I mean, this whole protein thing feels a bit confusing, honestly. Thanks for any insights you can offer!

Curd, indeed, contains protein, but whether it is a significant source of protein depends on the particular curd you’re consuming and how it fits into your overall diet. Generally, curd made from cow’s milk offers about 3-4 grams of protein per 100 grams. If you’re relying solely on curd for your daily protein requirement, it might not be sufficient unless you consume it in substantial amounts.

When you’re feeling tired, boosting your protein intake can certainly be a step towards more energy, but it is important to balance this with other nutrients. Along with curd, incorporating foods like legumes, nuts, seeds, and lean meats can help ensure a more comprehensive protein intake. Check the nutrition labels on curd packets; some variances occur due to ingredient differences or manufacturing processes, it can be helpful to see what you are actually consuming.

Regarding digestion, curd is widely appreciated in Ayurveda for its probiotic qualities. It promotes healthy digestion by supporting good gut bacteria, especially when consumed properly. Remember, according to Ayurvedic principles, curd should be fresh, and it’s better to consume it with a pinch of black pepper or a sprinkle of cumin to maintain agni, the digestive fire. Avoid consuming curd at night, as it can be heavy and potentially clog your srotas (channels).

Suppose you are experiencing consistent fatigue. In that case, considering other factors like your sleep patterns, hydration, and stress levels can also be beneficial. If digestive issues persist, an assessment of your dosha balance might provide insights. Any significant dietary changes, especially when tiredness is frequent, should ideally be discussed with a healthcare provider to ensure it aligns with personal health needs and doesn’t overlook other underlying concerns.
