how does volini work - #37084
I am really confused about something. Recently, I hurt my back while lifting some heavy boxes at work. It was pretty bad and I couldn’t even stand up straight for a couple of days. A friend recommended Volini and said it worked wonders for him when he had a similar issue. I started using it but honestly, I’m not fully clear on how does Volini work. Like, does it just numb the pain, or does it actually help with healing in some way? I mean, I'm applying it like 3 times a day, but I'm also worried if I'm just covering up the problem instead of fixing it! Also, I should mention, sometimes my back feels a bit chilly after I apply the gel, and it’s a bit sticky too. Is that normal? I haven't seen any major improvements, and I actually had to take some pain meds on top of it which kind of makes me wonder if the Volini is even doing anything. Should I just give it more time or do I need to look for something else? I keep googling, but the information is kinda all over the place. How does Volini really work? Looking forward to your thoughts because I just want to feel normal again! Thanks!

Volini is a topical pain relief gel that primarily works by providing temporary relief from muscle pain, aches, and soreness. It contains active ingredients such as Diclofenac, Menthol, and Methyl Salicylate, which help in providing an analgesic effect. The way Volini works is by reducing the perception of pain through its mechanism of numbing the surface skin layers. This happens due to the action of Menthol, which provides a cooling sensation—a reason why you might feel a bit chilly after applying. It’s quite common, and the stickiness can be attributed to the gel format.
However, it’s essential to understand that while Volini can provide short-term relief, it doesn’t actually address the underlying cause of the pain or promote healing of the tissues. If your back pain persists or is severe, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any serious injury, as relying solely on topical treatments might mask a more significant issue.
In Ayurveda, treating back pain involves a more comprehensive approach, taking into account your dosha balance and lifestyle. You could consider incorporating gentle yoga and stretching exercises once the acute pain subsides. Application of warm herbalized oils like Mahanarayan oil might be beneficial, as it penetrates deeper and promotes circulation and healing. Using Kati Basti (an ayurvedic treatment for back issues) carried out under professional guidance can also help in managing chronic back pain.
For now, avoid activities that exacerbate the pain and focus on posture improvements. Also, maintain a balanced diet that supports your constitution, favoring warm and easily digestible foods to reduce any vata aggravation, which is often linked to back pain and rigidity. If your condition doesn’t improve or if it worsens, it may be necessary to seek further medical evaluation to ensure an accurate diagnosis and corresponding treatment plan.
Volini is a topical gel that’s designed primarily to provide symptomatic relief for pain. It works through its active ingredients, which typically include a mix of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), menthol, and other compounds that help reduce inflammation and provide a cooling sensation. When you apply Volini, the gel penetrates the skin and targets the pain area. Menthol creates that chilly feeling as it stimulates cold receptors – which can temporarily trick your brain into not registering the pain quite as intensely. The stickiness you experience is quite normal as it’s part of the gel’s texture, acting as a carrier for the active ingredients.
Now while Volini can mask pain, it’s primarily offering relief rather than addressing the underlying cause of your back injury. The true healing involves rest, proper posture, and gentle stretching along with treatments to help reduce inflammation and improve circulation over time. It’s understandable why combining Volini with oral pain medication can improve relief; however, this may also mask underlying issues, leading you to re-injure your back potentially.
From a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, your injury may be exacerbating an imbalance of Vata dosha, which directs movement in the body and, when unbalanced, can lead to pain and stiffness. To complement the Volini, you might consider balancing the Vata dosa by using warm compresses, gentle, warm oil massages with sesame or ginger oil, and consuming grounding, warming foods like ghee and cooked veggies. Keeping yourself warm and avoiding cold exposure is important, along with gentle exercises to support the agni or metabolic fire and improve your dhatus, or tissue health.
If you do not see improvements or your movements are highly restricted, it’s important to consult with a healthcare provider. They can assess whether there’s more serious damage needing targeted interventions beyond what topical treatments like Volini can offer.
