Severe Muscle Pain in Legs - #36511

Ajai

Resp. Doctor: I have severe pain in the muscles of my legs, from mid of thigh right upto ankle and feet. It is making me restless and unable to lead normal life. Some aurvedic doctor advised Mahanarayan+Mahamash oil combination to be rubbed twice daily. I am 72 of age and live and work in a temple in Ayodhya. This pain has crippled me. Is this oil combination good for my muscle pain? I will be very grateful to you to answer me. God bless you. Regards ajai

The combination of both oils is very effective in case of muscle pain joint pain and stiffness and nerve related discomfort but in your case that alone will not be sufficient Take Yograj guggulu 1-0-1 Ashwagandha churna 0-0-1/2 tsp with warm milk Dashamoola aristha-20-0-20 ml with equal water And you have to do very gentle massage and preferably before bath Ensure adequate rest Avoid standing for too long Or walking for too long Once check your Serum electrolytes sr calcium mg vit D if pain persists

Considering your symptoms and age, the recommendation of Mahanarayan and Mahamash oil massage, twice daily, is indeed a traditional and beneficial practice in Ayurveda for relieving muscle pain and improving circulation. These oils are known for their vata-pacifying properties, which can help alleviate pain and stiffness by soothing the muscles and joints. It’s important, however, to ensure the oil is slightly warmed before application, as warmth can further enhance its penetration and effectiveness.

Make sure to gently massage the oil into the skin in an upward motion, starting from your ankles and moving towards the thighs. Performing this routine in the morning and evening can offer significant relief. Following the massage, consider wrapping the legs in a warm cloth or using a hot water bag to retain the heat for a while longer. This soothing warmth can enhance relaxation and absorption of the therapeutic properties.

As you’re living and working in a temple, incorporating some simple stretching or light yoga practices focusing on the legs can also be beneficial. Gentle exercises, such as Pawanmuktasana series, are particularly aimed at releasing accumulated stress and blockages in the joints and muscles. Practicing for 10-15 minutes in the morning can improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension.

Furthermore, maintain a warm diet with easily digestable foods that support your digestive fire (agni). Include warm soups, kichari, or moong dal to nourish the bodily tissues (dhatus) and support overall vitality. Avoid cold and dry foods, as they can aggravate Vata dosha.

If the pain persists or worsens, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any severe underlying conditions. Alongside these ayurvedic practices, regular check-ups and a personalized treatment plan would be advisable, to ensure comprehensive care and relief from your discomfort.
