is shilajit good for diabetes - #36810

I am really confused about something that’s been on my mind. My mom has been dealing with diabetes for the past few years and it’s been rough. She’s trying to manage it with diet and medicines, but sometimes her blood sugar levels are all over the place. I heard a friend mention that is shilajit good for diabetes, and I’m like, really? I mean, can this help her? We’re looking into natural remedies since we’ve tried so many medications, and nothing seems to stabilize her levels for too long. Some days her energy is low, and others she feels kinda okay. It's frustrating, honestly. To add, she has this joint pain too, and I heard shilajit might help with that as well. But, is it safe for someone with diabetes? I read that is shilajit good for diabetes, but I guess what I really wanna know is if anyone here has actually seen it work? Are there side effects we should be aware of? I’d appreciate any stories or advice, ‘cause I’m honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed and just want to help my mom! Thanks in advance!

Shilajit, a mineral-rich substance used in Ayurveda, might offer some help when it comes to managing diabetes, although its use should be approached with a little caution and awareness. Shilajit is believed to improve energy levels, which could be beneficial for the fatigue associated with diabetes, and it also contains fulvic acid that is thought to potentially enhance the capacity of cells to absorb essential nutrients, possibly impacting glucose metabolism.

For diabetes, shilajit might provide complementary benefits, but it isn’t a substitute for any medical treatment or medication your mom is currently using. It’s crucial to integrate it as part of a broader holistic approach—focusing on diet, exercise, medication adherence, and regular monitoring of blood sugar levels.

In Ayurveda, it is essential to consider the individual’s prakriti (constitution) and potential dosha imbalances. If your mom’s condition leans towards a specific dosha imbalance, tailored shilajit use might be beneficial. With her joint pain, shilajit’s supposed anti-inflammatory properties might also offer some relief. However, incorporating turmeric with milk or ghee occasionally might further enhance anti-inflammatory effects.

When it comes to day-to-day consumption, recommending 300 mg to 500 mg of purified shilajit can be a starting dosage. Ideally, it should be consumed with milk or warm water, maybe once or twice a day, post meals. However, because every individual is different, particularly those with chronic conditions like diabetes, you should consult with a healthcare provider first to ensure it aligns with her ongoing treatment and doesn’t introduce any contraindications or side effects.

Possible side effects of shilajit can include upset stomach or allergies. Always ensure that the product being used is well-purified and sourced from a reputable supplier, as impurities could pose health risks. Hopefully, with careful consideration and oversight, it could potentially form part of a fulfilling regimen to support your mom’s health journey. Always check with your healthcare professional before starting any new supplement, especially when dealing with complex health issues like diabetes.

Shilajit can be considered supportive in managing diabetes due to its potential benefits for metabolism and energy levels. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, it’s known to possess rejuvenative properties and help balance the doshas. Shilajit operates by enhancing agni, or digestive fire, promoting better assimilation of nutrients, and possibly improving insulin sensitivity which is crucial for diabetes management. It may also aid joint discomfort with its anti-inflammatory properties.

However, shilajit should be used cautiously, particularly in someone with fluctuating blood sugar levels. Introduce it gradually, starting with a small dose, such as a pea-sized amount or as directed by an ayurvedic practitioner, and closely monitor changes in blood sugar. This cautious approach helps you to see how your mother’s body responds, and whether any adjustments are necessary.

Her overall daily routine should also be attuned to her body’s needs. Encourage her to eat meals at regular intervals to stabilize blood sugar and prioritize foods that match her doshic constitution. Consider integrating yoga or gentle exercise, which can aid in enhancing circulation and reducing joint pain.

Before starting shilajit or any similar remedy, it’s wise to consult with healthcare professionals, particularly her primary doctor to ensure it won’t interact with her existing medications or conditions. Keep safety at the forefront, and aim for an integrative approach that complements her current treatments without replacing them.
