Pain in the lower half of the leg and difficulty in movement of the ankle may hint towards imbalances in the Vata dosha, which rules movement and sensation. The emphasis here should be on calming and balancing Vata.

Applying warm sesame oil on the affected leg can provide relief. Gently massage the area, ensuring not to apply too much pressure, twice daily. Following this, you can apply a warm compress to the area - a warm, moist towel will work. This helps increase circulation and warm the area.

For a more targeted approach, a paste made with dried ginger and water can be applied externally. To prepare, mix dry ginger powder with warm water to form a paste, and apply it gently to the affected area. Leave it on for about 20-30 minutes before washing off. Do this once a day.

Ingestion of herbs like Ashwagandha, which strengthens and balances Vata, may be beneficial. You can take it in the form of a powder, around half a teaspoon mixed with warm milk in the evening.

Dietary changes is crucial for managing Vata imbalance. Incorporate warming, grounding foods like soups and cooked grains into your meals. Avoid cold and raw foods, which can aggravate Vata.

Rest is also crucial. Avoid standing for prolonged periods and elevate your leg whenever possible to improve circulation. Use a firm support like a pillow to elevate.

While these Ayuervedic suggestions may aid relief, it’s important to consider a medical evaluation, as issues with mobility and severe pain sometimes require more immediate attention. If the pain persists or worsens, seeking medical advice should be a priorty for definitive diagnoses of underlying issues with bones, muscles or nerves.
