Flat feet and swelling in the feet can be quite uncomfortable, especially for someone with asthma. In Ayurveda, swelling is often linked to imbalances in the Kapha dosha, while flat feet may relate to structural issues and the Vata dosha disturbances. It’s essential to approach this holistically, considering both his condition and the lifestyle factors.

Firstly, regarding the swelling in his feet, the focus should be on reducing excess Kapha and improving circulation. Have him soak his feet in warm water mixed with a handful of Epsom salt for about 15 minutes daily. This can help reduce swelling and soothe aching feet. Applying a paste of turmeric and castor oil can also be beneficial; turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Dietary adjustments are also crucial. Encourage a Kapha-pacifying diet that includes warm, freshly-cooked, light, dry, and digestible foods. Avoid cold, heavy, oily foods, and instead, introduce spices like ginger, black pepper, or turmeric to aid digestion and metabolism. These can stimulate the digestive fire, promoting better circulation and reduced edema.

For the flat feet, Ayurvedic oils such as Mahanarayan oil can provide relief. Gently massage the feet daily to improve blood flow and reduce discomfort. Alongside, practicing simple foot exercises to strengthen foot arches could also be helpful. Encourage exercises such as toe lifts or circular ankle rotations, fittng his physical capacity, of course.

Due to his asthma, his respiratory health should not be overlooked. Sitopaladi churna can help manage respiratory symptoms, though ensure it doesn’t counteract any current asthma medications he may be taking.

These suggestions, though potentially helpful, should be complemented with guidance from a healthcare provider experienced in his specific medical background. Always cross-consult before introducing new treatments, especially for a condition as complex as asthma.
