It sounds like your Kapha Dosha is elevated, leading to issues like sensitivity to dust and cold. Here’s how you can control Kapha and manage these symptoms:
Why You’re Sensitive:
An increase in Kapha leads to excess mucus and congestion, making your respiratory system more sensitive to allergens like dust and cold weather.
Tips to Reduce Kapha:
Dietary Adjustments:
Eat Warm, Light, and Spicy Foods: Use spices like ginger, black pepper, and turmeric to help clear mucus and balance Kapha.
Avoid Cold and Heavy Foods: Stay away from dairy, fried foods, and ice-cold drinks, which can worsen Kapha.
Lifestyle Changes:
Stay Active: Daily exercise like brisk walking or yoga helps reduce Kapha.
Keep Warm: Avoid exposure to cold and damp environments, which increase Kapha.
Herbal Remedies:
Trikatu (ginger, black pepper, long pepper) aids digestion and clears mucus.
Tulsi Tea: Helps reduce respiratory congestion and soothe allergies.
Nasal Cleansing (Jala Neti):
Regular nasal cleansing can help remove allergens and reduce sensitivity.
Incorporate these practices gradually to help balance Kapha and reduce symptoms. If issues persist, consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized advice.

Oh, kapha dosha, it can be a bit of a stubborn thing, can't it? The thing with kapha is that it's cool, heavy, and stable. So, when the environment or lifestyle choices become similar, kapha can easily get aggravated. Dust? Cold? These are kapha-increasing influences for sure.
Let's dive into the "why" first. Sensitivity to dust and cold is quite common when kapha is predominant or aggravated. It’s like kapha goes into overdrive, and your body becomes more susceptible to anything that’s cold or sticky, which dust summtimes is. When your environment tilts that way, kapha can thicken and accumulate, especially in the respiratory system, leading to that sensitivity you're experiencing.
Now, to tackle this issue practically: Start by warming things up! In Ayurveda, like increases like and opposites create balance. So, go for warm, light, and dry qualities in what you eat and do. Begin with your meals. Eat warm, cooked foods—think spicy (but not too spicy), like ginger tea or a sprinkle of black pepper. They help ignite the digestive fire, or agni, and balance the kapha.
Avoid cold foods and beverages, dairy, and processed sugars as much as possible. Sadly, ice cream doesn't help here, I wish it did! These tend to increase that already stubborn kapha energy.
Incorporate some daily physical activity. Even a brisk walk or some gentle yoga daily can help get things moving, shake up that stability a bit. Kapha dislikes too much routine, so a little movement stirs it up nicely.
For the dust and cold receptors, keep your living areas clean, free from dust, and perhaps use a humidifier. And consider steam inhalation with a bit of eucalyptus. It clears the nasal passages well.
Lastly, allow room for imperfections. Healing isn't a clear-cut path but trial and error. Try these things and adjust as needed. Our bodies love to communicate; we just need to listen.
