From what you describe, your wife’s knee osteoarthritis is severe and has been progressing for six years, leading to cartilage loss, pain, and very limited movement. At this stage, complete restoration of cartilage is generally not possible with any medicine alone, including Shringar Bhasma, but Ayurveda can significantly reduce pain, improve joint mobility, and slow further degeneration while strengthening the muscles and ligaments around the knee. For immediate relief, Rasnasaptak Kwath 20–30 ml twice daily and Guggulu-based medicines like Yograj Guggulu 2 tablets twice daily after food help reduce inflammation, pain, and stiffness. Sharang Bhasma 125 mg with honey twice daily can be added to support joint tissue health and Vata balance. Topical application of Mahanarayan Oil with gentle warm massage around the knee daily improves circulation and eases stiffness. Supportive measures include daily knee exercises, like gentle bending, straightening, and isometric quadriceps exercises under guidance, to strengthen muscles without overloading the joint. Using a knee support or brace while walking can reduce strain. Diet should include warm, cooked, Vata-pacifying foods, ghee, and anti-inflammatory herbs like turmeric and ginger. With consistent treatment, pain reduces over 3–6 weeks, mobility improves gradually, and further degeneration slows. In very advanced cases, if walking becomes impossible, surgical intervention may still be considered, but Ayurveda can provide comfort and improve quality of life significantly.
