I’maged 67…. I have thyroid n Hypertension….my thyroid is under control n so is my BP . As I’m on medication for both . I hav a lot of hair loss . Nothing seems to help . Please advise.

Internal Medicines 1 Bhringraj Churna: 3 gm twice daily after meals with warm water. 2 Kumari Asava: 15 ml + 15 ml water after lunch & dinner. 3 Manjistha Capsule: 500 mg twice daily after meals. 4 Praval Pishti: 125 mg twice daily after meals with water.

External Applications Scalp: Neelibhringadi Taila → warm → massage 15 min → leave overnight → wash morning → 3x weekly. Lepa: Bhringraj + Amla powder + curd → apply scalp → 30 min → rinse → 2x weekly.

Diet Give only: Amla juice 20 ml diluted morning. 4 soaked almonds + 2 dates daily. Ghee 1 tsp in meals.

Avoid completely: Spicy, salty, caffeine. Chemical hair products.

✅ AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

✅ INTERNAL MEDICATION

1. Bhringarajasava – 15 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily (Improves liver function, nourishes hair roots, prevents greying.)

2. Amla Churna – 1 tsp in warm water after breakfast ( Rich in Vitamin C, pacifies Pitta, and promotes natural shine and regrowth.)

3. Narasimha Rasayana – 1 tsp at night followed by warm milk (Classical Rasayana for rejuvenation, hormonal balance, and tissue nourishment.)

4. Saptamrit Lauh – 1 tablet twice daily after meals with ghee and honey ( Strengthens vision, hair, and prevents premature greying.)

(These are all safe alongside thyroid and BP medicines when taken 2–3 hours apart.)

✅ EXTERNAL CARE

1. Neelibhringadi Taila Warm the oil slightly and apply to scalp at night 3–4 times a week.

Gentle massage for 10 minutes → improves circulation, nourishes roots, and reduces scalp heat.

2. Aloe Vera + Amla Juice Rinse: Mix equal parts fresh aloe vera pulp and amla juice, apply on scalp 20 mins before bath. Soothes itching, reduces dandruff, and supports hair regrowth.

3. Nasya Therapy (at home) 2 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril after morning bath (once or twice a week). Strengthens roots, nourishes brain and sense organs — excellent anti-ageing practice.

✅ HOME REMEDIES

Curry Leaves + Coconut Oil: Boil a handful of curry leaves in coconut oil until blackened; strain and use as hair oil. ( Encourages melanin formation and reduces greying.)

Fenugreek Hair Mask: Soak 2 tsp methi seeds overnight → grind → mix with curd → apply on scalp 30 mins before bath. ( Reduces dandruff and improves hair thickness.)

Amla Water Rinse: Add 1 tbsp amla powder in 2 cups water, boil, cool, and rinse hair post-wash.

✅ DIET & LIFESTYLE

✅Include:

Cow ghee, sesame seeds, soaked almonds, walnuts, dates, and fresh amla. Moong dal soup, leafy greens, seasonal fruits, and milk with turmeric or ashwagandha. Hydration with lukewarm water or herbal teas (Brahmi, Licorice).

❌Avoid:

Fried, spicy, and acidic foods. Excess tea, coffee, and stress. Sleeping late at night and washing hair with very hot water.

At age 67, your body’s natural regenerative power slows down. Both thyroid imbalance (even if under control) and long-term hypertension after circulation, metabolism, and tissue nourishment- including the scalp and hair follicles

From an Ayurvedic point of view, your condition reflects primarily a vata-pitta imbalance with some rasa (plasma) and rakta (blood) dhatu depletion

VATA AGGRAVATION= causes dryness, roughness, brittle hair, premature hair fall

PITTA AGGRAVATION= causes heat and inflammation in scalp -> itching, burning, hair thinning

DHATU KSHAYA (tissue depletion)= weakens hair roots due to poor nourishment

AGE FACTOR= natural decline of kapha and Ojas leads to reduced hair densitiy

MEDICATION INFLUENCE= long term thyroid and BP medicines can slightly disturb metabolic fire and affect hair growth cycle

Use 777 shampoo (JK’s Pharma) or G3 Hair shampoo (Abhinav Pharma) whichever is easily available for you.

Panchendriya vardhan Tailam. 2 drops in each nostril early in the morning empty stomach. Make the oil lukewarm.
