In Ayurveda, your bursitis is seen as a Vata imbalance causing pain and inflammation in the joints. The medicine given (lepas) is meant to reduce Vata, improve circulation, and ease pain naturally. Along with this, therapies like oil massage, gentle exercises, and avoiding cold exposure can help in healing. —Rx: 1) Tab Rumalaya Forte (Aimil Pharmaceuticals) – 2 tablets BD after meals 2) Cap Shallaki – 1 capsule BD after meals 3) Painmukti Oil – Local application, gentle massage 2–3 times daily Lukewarm water for intake -----Advice: Avoid cold exposure, वात-increasing foods Gentle joint movement (no strain) Hot fomentation (swedana) if stiffness present —Follow-up: 10–15 days

Regarding Lepas - These are highly effective for localized pain and inflammation like bursitis when applied externally. But👇👇👇👍👍 bursitis is pointing towards Kati Shula or Mamsagata Vata (Vata affecting muscle and soft tissues). Since you’ve been experiencing moderate pain for over six months, So our focus shifts toward chronic management-reducing inflammation (Shothahara) while strengthening the joint. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 1) Rasnadi Kashayam - 15 ml mixed with 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily 30 minute before food 2) Yogaraja Guggulu- 2 tablets twice daily after food with warm water 3) Ksheerabala 101- 1 capsule twice daily after food 4) Murivenna or Dhanwantharam Thailam apply lukewarm oil gently over the area leave for 30 to 45 minute before the warm bath 5) Dashasanga Lepam- mix powder with water or ghee to form a paste apply over the area was of once it dry one time a day 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 Favor Warm, freshly cooked meals. Include healthy fats like Ghee or Sesame oil to lubricate the joints from within. Spices like Ginger, Turmeric, and Garlic are excellent Avoid Cold drinks, curd (at night), fermented foods, and “Vata-aggravating” vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower, and sprouts (unless cooked with oil and hing). Rest: Avoid certain movements that trigger the pain. High-impact activities like running or climbing steep stairs should be paused. Localized steam or a warm salt bag (Potali) after applying oil can significantly reduce stiffness. Try sleeping on your back or on the unaffected side with a pillow between your knees to reduce pressure on the inflamed bursa.

Packed food products. Sour and fermented items. Bakery items. Fried food products. Potatoes. Too much application of any oil or pain killer gel or ointment. ??Medication?? Tab. Mahavatvidhwans Ras 2 tabs twice a day before food Cap. palsinuron 2 caps twice a day before food. Tab. Sinhanad guggul 2 tabs twice a day before food Syp. Hello, What is the name of the ointment. That will help to answer the question more appropriately. However as the symptoms are since 6 months you can start using the following: 1. Burcalvin softgel capsules 2----0----2 after breakfats and after dinner for 90 days. 2. Maharasnadi kashayam 20ml—0—20ml by adding 80ml of boiled cooled water For 90 days. 3. Trayodashanga guggulu 2----0-----2 with medicine no.1 for 90 days. 4. Murivenna for external application. Take care, Kind regards.

Hello I understand your concern. Hip bursitis pain for a long time can be quite uncomfortable, especially with movement. Yes, Lepas ointment can be used for bursitis pain if it was prescribed earlier, as it helps in reducing local pain and inflammation. But since your pain has been present for more than 6 months, only ointment may not be sufficient. In your case, this is mainly due to Vata aggravation affecting joints and surrounding tissues, causing pain during movement. So the focus should be on reducing inflammation and improving joint mobility. Start Yogaraj Guggulu 1 tablet twice daily after food Shallaki MR 1 tablet twice daily after food For external use Apply Lepas ointment over the painful area 1–2 times daily and you can also do gentle hot fomentation after application for better relief. Avoid prolonged sitting on hard surfaces and sudden movements that trigger pain. Do mild stretching exercises for hip, but avoid overexertion. If pain persists or increases, then physiotherapy or imaging may be needed to assess the joint condition further. With proper treatment, your pain can be managed well. Warm Regards Dr Raghuveer SN

Hello, Yes- you can use Lepas ointment (the one prescribed in puducheery) for bursitis pain, but in Ayurveda it’s usually just one part of a broader approach, not the main treatment- especially since your pain is chronic (> 6 months) and movement triggered Your presentation suggests vata- dominant bursitis without acute inflammation (no redness/swelling). so treatment focuses on vata pacification + lubrication + reducing stiffness External treatment (most important) 1) Lepas ointment= apply 2-3 times daily over hip -best after warm fomentation =helps reduce localised pain but works better when combined with oil therapy 2) Dhanwantaram taila= gentle massage over hip 15-20 mins daily -follow with hot fomentation (steam or hot towel) -improves joint lubrication and mobility 3) Kottamchukadi taila= use in morning -avoid if skin sensitive Internal medication 1) Yogaraj guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =reduces chronic joint pain and vata imbalance 2) Gandharvahastadi kashaya= 15ml + equal warm water twice daily before meals =corrects underlying vata + improves digestion (very important in chronic pain) 3) Dashmoolarishtam= 20 ml with equal water after meals =anti inflammatory + strengthens deeper tissues Daily regimen dont skip -avoid prolonged sitting on hard surfaces -avoid sudden hip rotations/ strain movement -prefer warm food, no cold/dry items -add ghee small amount daily-> supports joint lubrication -sleep on firm but cushioned surface Gentle movement (very important for you) since movement causes pain but stiffness is present -do slow hip opening exercises -avoid high- impact workouts -Best= walking + mild stretching Diet -warm, cooked meals -moong dal, rice, ghee -garlic, ginger Avoid -cold drinks, curd at night -dry foods chips, bakery -excess tea, coffee Expected timeline -relief pain= 2-3 weeks -better mobilty= 4-6 weeks -stable recovery= 2-3 months Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

yes you can use lepas ointment in bursitis Hip bursitis involves inflammation + friction + vata aggravation (in Ayurvedic terms). Lepas ointment works by: reducing local inflammation relieving muscle tightness around the joint improving local circulation giving mild analgesic (pain-relief) effect

Hello, Since you were prescribed Lepas ointment (likely a specific Lepa formulation, such as Dashang Lepa or similar) for your bursitis in March, it is generally safe and appropriate to continue using it for localized pain and swelling. In Ayurveda, a Lepa is a medicated herbal paste or ointment applied topically to treat inflammatory conditions.
Pathology: Bursitis is viewed as an imbalance of Vata (causing pain and stiffness) and Pitta (causing inflammation, heat, and swelling).
The Goal: Treatment focuses on Shothahara (reducing swelling) and Shulaprashamana (relieving pain). Role of Lepas: These topical applications act by penetrating the skin to pacify the aggravated Doshas directly at the site. They help improve local blood circulation and drain the excess fluid (Ama) accumulated in the bursa.
Usage Guidelines Application: Apply a thin, even layer over the affected joint. Temperature: For bursitis with active swelling and heat (Pitta), the ointment is usually applied at room temperature. If there is chronic stiffness without heat (Vata), applying it slightly warm can be more effective. Duration: Leave it on for at least 30–45 minutes or as directed by your physician.
Precautions Expiry: Since it was prescribed in March, check if the ointment has changed in smell, color, or consistency. Most Ayurvedic ointments have a shelf life of 1–2 years, but fresh Lepa pastes made at a clinic may spoil faster. Skin Reaction: If you notice any redness, itching, or a burning sensation upon application, wash it off immediately.
