●Diet-Based Remedy (Warm Milk) A cup of warm milk is considered extremely helpful in inducing sleep. You can make it more effective by adding: • a pinch of nutmeg to the milk • or ground almonds + nutmeg + cardamom • or garlic milk (milk + a little water + a clove of garlic boiled) This combination calms vata and calms the mind. ●Fruit and beverage-based remedies Cherries: 10-20 cherries daily can help reduce mental fatigue and stress. Tomato juice: 4-5 p.m. Tomato juice + a little natural sugar + nutmeg, and dinner: 6-7 p.m. This practice can help promote deeper sleep. ●Herbal Remedy Traditional Yoga for Sleep • Tagar • Valerian Root • Chamomile Mix equal amounts of their powder 11 teaspoons with lukewarm water just before bed. This yoga relaxes the mind and calms the nerves. ●Simple Home Remedies Chamomile Tea A cup at night naturally induces sleep. Nutmeg Paste: A light paste of nutmeg and ghee applied to the forehead and around the eyes helps with sleep. ●Abhyanga and Snigdhata Night Oil Massage: Before going to bed, massage the head and soles of the feet with slightly warm sesame oil, brahmi oil, or jatamansi oil for a few minutes. This calms vata and promotes sleep. ●Tranquillity Tea This simple Ayurvedic tea can be made to reduce stress. Ingredients: Jatamansi Brahmi Shankhapushpi: Mix all three in equal quantities. ●Method of Preparation How to Consume This Tea Add 1/2 teaspoon of this mixture to 1 cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 5-7 minutes, then strain. Drink about 1 hour before bedtime. Hello dear, Managing chronic anxiety and stress requires a holistic approach, especially when it is impacting your sleep and physical comfort. In Ayurveda, this is often viewed as an aggravation of Vata Dosha, which governs the nervous system and sleep. Chronic stress and insomnia (Anidra) are linked to an imbalance in the Manovaha Srotas (channels of the mind). When Vata is high, it leads to a restless mind (overthinking) and dryness, which can manifest as heaviness and strain in the eyes (Akshi Gouravam). 1. For Stress and Anxiety (Internal medicine) Kalyanaka Gritham: This is a medicated ghee used for neurological and psychological health. It helps calm the nervous system. Dose: 1 teaspoon with warm water or milk on an empty stomach twice daily. Manasamitra Vatakam: A potent tablet specifically for mental peace and sleep quality. Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after food, preferably with milk at night. 2. For Insomnia and Eye Heaviness (External) Ksheerabala Thailam (101 Times Avartanam): This is highly processed and effective for Vata disorders. Dose: 2 drops in each nostril (Pratimarsha Nasya) or applied to the crown of the head and soles of the feet before bed. Elaneer Kuzhampu: Specifically for the eyes to relieve heaviness and burning. Dose: 1 drop in each eye at bedtime (Consult an eye specialist first if you have underlying conditions). Key Lifestyle Tips Massage your scalp and soles of your feet with warm sesame oil or Brahmi oil before sleeping. Favor warm, cooked, and grounding foods. Avoid caffeine and cold drinks in the evening.

Your symptoms show chronic anxiety with severe sleep disturbance, which is now affecting eyes and overall energy. This needs calming of mind and nervous system. First priority is sleep restoration. Avoid mobile/overthinking before bed. Keep lights dim at night. Try to sleep at a fixed time even if sleep doesn’t come immediately. Do slow deep breathing before sleep. During day, avoid long screen exposure without breaks. Give rest to eyes. At home, take warm milk at night and practice simple pranayama (like anulom vilom). Gentle head massage with oil at night helps a lot. Ashwagandha tablet – 1 tablet at bedtime Brahmi tablet – 1 tablet twice daily Kalyanaka ghrita – ½ teaspoon at bedtime with warm milk This will calm the mind, improve sleep, and reduce anxiety gradually. If sleep remains very low, do consider professional mental health support along with this. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
