Your symptoms suggest an intercostal muscle strain (muscle between ribs) due to sudden stretching during workout. In Ayurveda, this is a Vata aggravation in Mamsa (muscle) and Snayu (ligaments) causing pain and stiffness. 1. Rest (Vishrama) Avoid stretching, twisting, heavy workouts Let the muscle heal (important for 1–2 weeks) 2. External Treatment Gentle warm oil massage with sesame oil or Mahanarayan oil (2–3 times daily) Follow with mild heat fomentation (hot towel) Reduces Vata, pain, and stiffness 3. Internal Support Yograj Guggulu – relieves muscle pain Dashmool Kwath – reduces inflammation Turmeric milk at night 4. Diet Warm, light, easy-to-digest food Avoid cold drinks, dry, and processed food (increase Vata) 5. Breathing Care Take slow, gentle breaths (avoid deep forceful breathing initially) No sudden chest expansion movements

Your symptoms are most consistent with an intercostal muscle strain / small tear (muscles between the ribs), likely caused during stretching or sudden movement. The “noise” may have been a muscle/fascia snap or costochondral irritation. Since X-ray shows no fracture, that is reassuring. First 5–7 Days: Rest from workouts / stretching Ice pack 15 minutes, 4–5 times daily for first 48 hours Then switch to warm fomentation if stiffness develops Support: Hug a pillow while coughing/sneezing/laughing Avoid for now: Twisting Overhead reaching Push-ups Heavy lifting Deep side stretches Sudden yoga movements Ayurvedic Support Mahayograj Guggulu – 1 tab twice daily after meals Mahanarayan Taila local gentle application around painful area (not intense massage) Recovery Time Usually 2–6 weeks
When you overstretch or twist suddenly (common in yoga), those rib muscles can partially tear. That —causes: Sharp pain with movement (especially reaching or twisting) Tenderness to touch Pain with deep breaths, coughing, or stretching -------Continue ice for the first 48–72 hours (15–20 min, 2–3×/day) After that, you can switch to gentle heat if it feels better --------After a few days: Start very gentle range-of-motion movements No aggressive stretching yet Let pain guide you—mild discomfort is okay, sharp pain is not –Internal Medicines 1) Rumalaya Forte 2 tablets twice daily after food 2) Rumalaya Gel External application 3) Neo Capsules 1 capsule twice daily after food ---- External Treatment Rumalaya Gel Apply gently over the painful rib area 2–3 times daily Do NOT massage deeply—just light application -Mild warm fomentation after applying gel ---- Supportive Warm water throughout the day Avoid cold exposure (AC directly on chest, cold showers) Light, warm, easy-to-digest diet (khichdi, soups) – Pathya–Apathya (Do’s & Don’ts) -Do: Rest the affected side Gentle breathing exercises (no forceful pranayama) Sleep on the opposite side - Avoid: Yoga stretching (temporarily stop) Twisting movements Sudden arm elevation Heavy, dry, cold foods (increase Vata)
