Ayurvedic Remedies for Constipation 1. Triphala Churna: Mix 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime. Mild laxative, detoxifies the colon and supports regular bowel movements. 2. Castor Oil (Eranda Taila): 1 tsp mixed in warm milk once or twice a week before bed helps in strong constipation. Avoid if you have loose stools or inflammation. 3. Ghee with Warm Water: 1 tsp of desi cow ghee in warm water at bedtime improves gut lubrication and softens stools. 4. Isabgol Husk + Warm Milk: Take 1-2 tsp psyllium husk in warm milk at bedtime (for mild constipation). Avoid with low-fiber diets. Diet: Eat Warm, liquidy diet and easy-to-digest foods like khichdi, moong dal soup, steamed veggies, ghee, and herbal teas. Avoid: Dry, cold, fried, stale, or processed foods; heavy pulses like chana or rajma; and raw salads (which aggravate Vata). Herbal Teas & Decoctions- Fennel + Ajwain + Ginger tea after meals improves digestion and relieves gas. Cumin-Coriander-Fennel tea helps reduce bloating and supports digestion.

Undergoing a complete hysterectomy can impact your body's natural balance, including your digestive health. It’s not uncommon for women to experience constipation or a feeling of heaviness post-surgery, especially with strainous activity. Let’s look at some ways Ayurveda can support your gut health and alleviate these symptoms. First, let’s address diet. Ayurveda places a strong emphasis on balancing the digestive force, or agni. To support your digestion, include warm, cooked foods in your diet. Avoid cold, raw items that can dampen your digestive fire. Incorporate warming spices like cumin, fennel, and ginger which can help stimulate digestion. Start your day with a glass of warm lemon water to gently wake up your digestive system. Adding a teaspoon of ghee to your meals can also aid in lubrication and smoother bowel movements. Hydration is key, so take care to drink plenty of warm water through the day, avoiding caffeinated or cold beverages. Exercise is another factor. Gentle activities like walking or yoga can promote better digestion and prevent feelings of heaviness. Poses like Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend) and Pavanamuktasana (Wind-Relieving Pose) are particularly beneficial; they can stimulate your digestive organs and relieve discomfort. Take care to avoid anything that feels too straining, especially if it increases heaviness in your pelvic region. Some self-care practices may assist—applying a warm sesame oil massage, or abhyanga, to the abdomen area, encourages circulation and relaxation. A daily routine of deep breathing or meditation can also help reduce any stress that may contribute to your symptoms. Finally, Triphala churna is widely recommended in Ayurveda for constipation. Taking a teaspoon with warm water before bed can be quite effective. However, it’s essential to consider the compatibility with any medicines you're taking, possibly consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider to ensure it’s right for you. If you still have persistent issues, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional to rule out complications from surgery. Each person's case can be unique, and it might require a tailored approach to treatment. Hope these guidelines give you a better pathway to finding relief.
