Eczema, especially when it flares up during seasonal changes, can be quite troublesome. In Ayurveda, this condition may relate to an imbalance of the body's doshas, particularly Pitta and Kapha. Let's get into how Ayurveda can offer some relief and potentially improve your condition over time. First off, considering your description, we might need to balance your Pitta dosha due to the inflammation and Kapha as it's related to the skin's moisture and buildup. Focus on a Pitta-pacifying diet—think cooling, non-spicy foods. Cucumbers, watermelon, and coconut water could be your best friends here. Try to minimize your intake of spicy, fried, or excessively salty foods, as they can exacerbate Pitta. For Kapha, especially since it relates to mucus and can cause congestion under the skin, make sure you're eating light, warm, and dry foods. Avoid excess dairy and sugars, which may increase Kapha. Applying herbal pastes can be soothing. You might try a paste made from sandalwood and turmeric, mixed with a bit of rose water, apply gently on the affected area for its cooling properties. Regularly, practice oil massage with coconut oil, as it's cooling, or you may use neem oil for its antiseptic properties. Even gentle sun exposure but not during the peak heat hours) can be beneficial for Vitamin D synthesis. Aloe vera gel, pure and fresh, can be quite effective too for soothing the eczema on your hands. Applying in the morningand evening may cool and soothe inflammation. Additionally, incorporating yoga and meditation might help reduce stress levels, which is known to trigger eczema in some cases. Simple pranayama (breathing exercises) may also be a beneficial daily practice. Lastly, ensure you're staying hydrated. Drinking lukewarm water throughout the day helps maintain healthy tissues and balance doshas. Nonetheless, considering the severity you've experienced, always seek an Ayurvedic practioner who can customize your treatment plan based on your specific Prakriti. While Ayurveda can offer supportive care, it's crucial to be careful and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms become severe again.
