Hi Sneha, When going for long walks, there’s much strain on knees. I will suggest to have shorter walks. Use Knee caps while walking. Take the below medicines for better joint health for 1 month 1 Yograja Guggulu 2-0-2 2 Tab Shallaki 1-0-1 3 Vatagajankusha Rasa 1-0-1 4 Rhumalayan liniment for local application twice 5 Dashmoolarishta 15ml-0-15ml with 15ml water before food

Do Physiotherapy and hot fomentation. If pain still persists after the treatment, then go for Janubasti (Panchakarma procedure in which oil is poured over the knee joint by making a compartment with Aatta) for 7 days.

Knee pain after long walks, especially during activities like climbing stairs or sitting down, could likely indicate an imbalance in your Vata dosha, typically associated with dryness and stiffness in the joints. Addressing this condition requires several practical steps grounded in Ayurvedic principles.

First, consider incorporating a Vata-pacifying diet. Focus on warm, cooked foods, including soups and stews, that are easy to digest and seasoned with warming spices like ginger, cumin, and turmeric. Avoid cold, raw foods, as they can aggravate Vata. Including healthy fats—such as ghee or sesame oil—helps lubricate the joints.

Second, regular oil massage (abhyanga) can be very beneficial. Use warm sesame oil, as it has grounding properties and helps reduce Vata imbalance. Gently massaging the oil on legs, especially your knees, daily before taking a warm bath can improve circulation and reduce stiffness. Just make sure you apply enough pressure that feels comfortable and not painful.

Strengthening exercises might help, but avoid putting extra strain on your knees. Simple yoga poses like Tadasana (Mountain Pose) or Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) can improve strength and flexibility without overstraining your muscles and joints. Practice these regularly, but stop immediately if the pain feels sharper or intense.

Consider herbal supplements as well—like Ashwagandha or Guggulu—known for their anti-inflammatory properties and effectiveness in joint health. However, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to find the right formulation specific to your condition.

Hydration is also key—drink warm water throughout the day to flush toxins (ama), promoting joint health. Avoid exposure to cold winds, as this can increase Vata, leading to more pain and discomfort.

If pain persists, or increases, it might be necessary seek a professional assessment. In rare cases, knee pain could signal more serious conditions requiring medical intervention, so don’t hesitate to consult healthcare provider if symptoms worsen.

Knee pain after long walks can be indicative of vata dosha imbalance, possibly aggravated by overuse or joint stress. To address this, it’s important to focus on pacifying vata and supporting the joints. First, consider using warm sesame oil for gentle knee massages. Its warming and nourishing qualities can help soothe vata and relieve stiffness or discomfort. You can do this before bedtime or after your walks.

Include a diet that supports joint health and maintains optimal vata balance. Warm, cooked foods like stews, soups, and whole grains can be nourishing. Add spices like turmeric and ginger which have anti-inflammatory properties, aiding in joint health. Stay hydrated with warm water or herbal teas such as ginger tea which is good for digestion and vata pacification.

Hor harboring strength in the legs, try including mild exercises such as leg lifts or gentle stretching to improve circulation and maintain joint flexibility. However, avoid high-impact activities that could put further stress on the knees.

Consider seeking herbal support with preparations like Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) or Ashwagandha, both known for reducing inflammation and improving joint health. It’s paramount to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any herbal regimen, to ensure it’s appropriate for your body constitution.

If pain persists despite these measures or increases in intensity, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider, as this may indicate the need for further investigation and treatment. Prompt professional evaluation is particularly important if there’s significant swelling, redness, or difficulty moving the joint.
