Doctors' responses

Yes you can make , but the traditional chyavanprash prepared in traditional method at ayurvedic drug factory is always recommended. Where in the ingredients are properly selected , purification process is followed as suggested.

HELLO HARKIRAT,

While silver and gold are both mentioned in classical Ayurvedic texts as rasayana ingredients, there are some important considerations before adding them to a homemade chawanprasha

KEY POINTS

1) PURITY AND SAFETY -Authentic bhasma require Shodhana (purification) and marana (calcination) under strict ayurvedic pharmaceutical processes -Market products are often contaminated or improperly prepared- this can lead to heavy metal toxicity -only use bhasmas made by certified GMP ayurvedic pharmacies, with lab tests confirming safety

2) DOSAGE -Traditionnaly therapeutic doses are tinu- typically in milligrams not grams -Example= Swarna bhasma 10-30 mg/day, Rajat bhasma= 30-125 mg/day , depending on individual conditio -Adding 5 gm silver bhasma and 1 gm gold bhasma to your mix would give each serving a massive excessive dose if consumed rgularly- potentially unsafe

3) AYURVEDIC SUPERVISION -Classical formulation like swarna Prashant or Rajat yukta avaleha include these metals only under supervision

Do not add 5 gm silver and 1 gm gold bhasma directly to your home made chyawanprash- add according to daily dose adivsed

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Avoid making it by yourself. The dosages you have mentioned are high. Not recommended.

Hey Harkirat Kindly reduce both the quantities by half.

Tips - Mix bhasmas only after the paste has cooled to preserve potency. - Store in a glass jar, away from heat and moisture. - Start with small daily doses (1 tsp) and observe your body’s response.

Adding silver (Rajat bhasma) and gold (Swarna bhasma) to your Chyawanprash recipe is certainly an interesting consideration. In Ayurveda, both are used to rejuvenate the body, improve vitality, and boost immunity. However, it’s essential to approach this with caution. Bhasma are powerful, and their use should be tailored to individual doshic imbalances and specific health needs.

Before you mix these into your recipe, consider a few factors. First, consult with an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner who can assess your prakriti (constitution), vikriti (imbalances), and overall health profile. They will help determine if these bhasma are suitable for you in terms of dosage and compatibility with other ingredients.

Typically, the dosage of Swarna bhasma and Rajat bhasma is very minute, often around 10-15mg per day, depending on individual needs. Taking more without proper guidance can be potent, leading to unintended side effects.

Regarding your recipe, the mix of nuts and herbs you’re considering are nourishing and invigorating, which aligns perfectly with Chyawanprash’s purpose. Kesar (saffron) and honey also complement these ingredients, balancing tridosha and enhancing taste respectively.

Should your practitioner gives the go-ahead for the bhasmas, incorporate them gently over low heat to maintain their integrity. Be sure to entrust the sourcing of these bhasmas to trusted suppliers, as purity is crucial to avoid contamination with harmful substances.

Finally, please remember that the therapeutic properties of bhasmas are especially potent in small, prescribed amounts over a period of time. Therefore, their introduction in your diet should always align with experienced advice.
