अजवाइन खाने से पाचन अच्छा होता है, गैस-अपच और पेट फूलना कम होता है। यह भूख बढ़ाने, सर्दी-खांसी में राहत देने और शरीर को गर्म रखने में मदद करती है। खाने में अजवाइन डालने से खाना जल्दी पचता है और स्वाद भी बढ़ता है। -----फायदे: -गैस और acidity में राहत -पेट दर्द और ऐंठन में आराम -सर्दी-खांसी में मदद -digestion मजबूत -मुंह की बदबू कम करने में सहायक -----अजवाइन को पराठे, दाल, सब्जी या गुनगुने पानी के साथ लिया जा सकता है। ज्यादा मात्रा में लेने से जलन या acidity हो सकती है।

​1. अजवाइन का आयुर्वेदिक स्वरूप (Pharmacological Profile) ​किसी भी द्रव्य के प्रभाव को समझने के लिए उसके रस, गुण, वीर्य, विपाक को देखना आवश्यक है: ​रस (Taste): कटु (Pungent) और तिक्त (Bitter) ​गुण (Properties): लघु (Light), रूक्ष (Dry), और तीक्ष्ण (Sharp) ​वीर्य (Potency): उष्ण (Hot) ​विपाक (Post-digestive effect): कटु ​दोष कर्म: यह अपने उष्ण और तीक्ष्ण गुणों के कारण वात और कफ दोष का शमन (balance) करती है, परंतु पित्त दोष को बढ़ा सकती है। ​2. खाना बनाने में अजवाइन का प्रयोग करने से क्या होता है? ​जब हम तड़के में या भोजन पकाते समय अजवाइन डालते हैं, तो यह मुख्य रूप से दो बड़े काम करती है: ​भोजन का सुपाच्य बनना (Enhancing Bioavailability): जो भोजन स्वभाव से भारी (गुरु), कफवर्धक या वात कारक होते हैं (जैसे- अरबी, आलू, गोभी, उड़द की दाल, या मैदे से बनी चीजें), अजवाइन उनके “गुरु गुण” को नष्ट कर उन्हें लघु (हल्का) बना देती है। ​अग्नि का प्रदीपन: भोजन के साथ मिलकर यह आमाशय (Stomach) में जाते ही जठराग्नि (Digestive Fire) को उत्तेजित करती है, जिससे पाचक रसों (Enzymes) का स्राव सही तरीके से होता है। ​3. अजवाइन खाने के मुख्य फायदे (Health Benefits) ​क) दीपन और पाचन (Improves Digestion) ​अजवाइन को आयुर्वेद में सर्वश्रेष्ठ ‘शूलप्रशमन’ (दर्द निवारक) और ‘दीपन-पाचन’ द्रव्य माना गया है। ​यह मंदाग्नि को ठीक करती है। ​भोजन के बाद होने वाले भारीपन और अपच (Dyspepsia) को रोकती है। ​ख) वात-अनुलोमन (Relieves Gas and Bloating) ​यह एक बेहतरीन Carminative है। अगर पेट में गैस (Flatulence), आफरा (Bloating) या पेट में मरोड़ (Colic pain) की समस्या हो, तो अजवाइन का तीक्ष्ण गुण फंसी हुई वायु को नीचे की ओर धकेलता है (वात अनुलोमन)। ​ग) कृमिघ्न (Anti-helminthic) ​आयुर्वेद ग्रंथों में यवानी को कृमिघ्न कहा गया है। यह आंतों के हानिकारक कीड़ों (Intestinal worms) को नष्ट करने और पेट के संक्रमण को रोकने में मदद करती है। ​घ) श्वास-कास हर (Respiratory Benefits) ​अपने कफशामक और उष्ण वीर्य के कारण, यह श्वसन तंत्र के लिए बहुत लाभकारी है। यह छाती में जमे बलगम (Mucus) को पिघलाकर बाहर निकालती है, जिससे कास (Cough) और श्वास (Asthma/Bronchitis) में तुरंत राहत मिलती है। ​ङ) आर्तव जनन (Regulates Menstruation) ​महिलाओं में यह गर्भाशय को उत्तेजित करती है और वात का शमन करती है। इसलिए कष्टार्तव (Dysmenorrhea/Periods का दर्द) और अनियमित पीरियड्स में इसका काढ़ा या चूर्ण बेहद फायदेमंद है। ​4. क्लिनिकल उपयोग के तरीके (How to Use) ​सामान्य अपच और गैस में: अजवाइन चूर्ण को थोड़े से सैंधव लवण (सेंधा नमक) के साथ गुनगुने जल से लेना तुरंत परिणाम देता है (यवानी खांडव चूर्ण का सिद्धांत)। ​अजवाइन अर्क: तीव्र पेट दर्द या अजीर्ण (Indigestion) में अजवाइन का अर्क (Distillate) बहुत तीव्र गति से काम करता है। ​कफ और सर्दी में: अजवाइन को तवे पर भूनकर उसकी पोटली बनाकर सूंघने से नासा-अवरोध (Stuffy nose) खुलता है। ​5. सावधानी / Contraindications (चिकित्सकीय परामर्श) ​चूंकि अजवाइन उष्ण वीर्य (Hot potency) है, इसलिए हमें निम्नलिखित स्थितियों में इसका अत्यधिक प्रयोग टालना चाहिए या सावधानी रखनी चाहिए: ​अम्लपित्त (Hyperacidity / GERD): शरीर में पित्त बढ़ा होने पर या सीने में जलन होने पर इसका सीधा प्रयोग पित्त को और बढ़ा सकता है। ​रक्तपित्त (Bleeding disorders): शरीर से कहीं भी ब्लीडिंग हो रही हो, तो इसके तीक्ष्ण गुण के कारण इसका सेवन न करें। ​गर्भावस्था (Pregnancy): इसकी तासीर गर्म और गर्भाशय को संकुचित करने वाली (Uterine stimulant) होती है, इसलिए गर्भावस्था के शुरुआती महीनों में इसका अत्यधिक या औषधीय मात्रा में सेवन वर्जित है।
