I am really confused about this. I’ve been reading a lot about ayurveda and how important it is to eat and drink according to your dosha, right? Anyway, I recently started drinking sugarcane juice because I heard it’s super nourishing and packed with vitamins. But then, my friend said sugarcane juice is heat or cold and I just can't figure it out! Last week, I had a pretty intense stomach ache after having some sugarcane juice, and I don't know if it was just coincidental or if, like, maybe my body didn't handle it well because of its heat or cold qualities? I thought it was supposed to be refreshing, especially since I live in a really hot climate. But now I’m worried that I’m messing up my balance. Should I be drinking sugarcane juice regularly or avoiding it? And are there certain signs I should be looking for that might indicate if sugarcane juice is heat or cold for me personally? I mean, if it’s heat, then do I need to counteract it with other foods? Should I drink something else with it? Just, really trying to figure this out and would appreciate any insights!

Experiencing a stomach ache after consuming sugarcane juice might not directly relate to its inherent Ayurvedic properties. Stomach aches after such consumption could be due to various factors like, perhaps, the cleanliness of the juice, its preparation, or even your individual digestive capacity at that time. To understand if sugarcane juice is suitable for you personally, one approach could be observing your body’s response the next time you consume it, being mindful of cleanliness, freshness, and perhaps the quantity as well.

If your stomach was indeed sensitive to the sugarcane juice, it might be worthwhile to see if your ‘agni’ or digestive fire is weakened. Agni imbalance can cause difficulty in processing even cooling foods. In the future, consider moderate consumption of sugarcane juice. Try having it raw and fresh, in small quantities initially, to observe your body’s reaction. If sugarcane juice does indeed lead to discomfort, you might counteract this by enhancing your digestive fire with a pinch of ginger before drinking it or consuming it with a hint of rock salt could also help.
