I am trying to figure out what is acv water because I've been hearing about it everywhere lately, like my friends are all raving about it! So, a few weeks ago, I decided I would give it a shot. I mixed apple cider vinegar (ACV) with water, like everyone said, but honestly I'm not even sure I'm doing it right. I’ve been feeling kinda bloated and just weird, and I thought maybe this could help? But like, what is acv water supposed to actually do? I read some articles that it can aid digestion and even help with weight loss? I’ve tried having it every morning before breakfast, but sometimes it makes my stomach kinda upset 😣. Plus, I’m worried if I’m drinking it too often or not enough? My friend thinks it’s like a magic potion for everything, but I don't know... Also, should I be using hot water or cold water with it? Does it matter for the benefits? It’s confusing and I’m also wondering if there are any negative side effects?? I just want to make sure that what is acv water doing to me is actually good... Any advice or tips from you all would really help me. I need some serious clarity on this because I want to get it right! 😩

ACV water refers to a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water, which many people consume for its supposed health benefits. However, the scientific evidence for these benefits is mixed, and it’s important to approach your own use of ACV water with caution.

Starting with the basics, apple cider vinegar is fermented apple juice, giving it probiotic and antioxidant properties. When you mix it with water, it’s usually to dilute the vinegar’s acidity which can be quite strong if consumed undiluted. Typically, a starting point might be a teaspoon to a tablespoon of ACV in a glass (around 240ml) of water.

If you’re feeling bloated and experience stomach upset, it’s possible that ACV is too much for your stomach to handle in its current form or quantity. Try reducing the dose, and consider consuming it less frequently, say every other day rather than daily. Switching to after meals might also minimize any direct irritation to an empty stomach.

Temperature of the water — warm or cold — doesn’t significantly alter the benefits but might affect your personal comfort and digestion. Lukewarm water is often a safe bet as it’s gentler on the digestive tract.

Regarding usage frequency, moderation is key. Overuse can potentially lead to issues like lowering potassium levels or affecting tooth enamel due to acidity.

ACV might not be a one-size-fits-all solution and isn’t typically recommended for people with certain conditions like ulcers, as it might exacerbate symptoms rather than relieve them. Always take into account your current health conditions and consider discussing such a change with a healthcare provider, especially if discomfort persists. There’s no harm in stepping back and reassessing whether this fits into your wellness journey.
