●Ayurveda’s Approach to Stress Reduction These medicines have a direct effect on the brain’s neurotransmitters. Ayurveda emphasizes “Sattvajaya” (medical treatments for balancing the mind) and “Medhya Rasayana” (herbs that enhance memory and mental strength). This effect is attributed to the effects of these medicines on the brain’s neurotransmitters, leading to peace and deep sleep. ●Scientific Basis • Clinical trials on spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi) show that it is an anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) and neuroprotective. • Research on brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) has shown that it improves mood and cognitive function by increasing serotonin levels. •Convolvulus pluricaulis (Shankhapushpi) balances dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, reducing anxiety and stress. ●Abhyanga and Snigdhata Night Oil Massage: Before going to bed, massage the scalp and soles of the feet with slightly warm sesame oil, brahmi oil, or jatamansi oil for a few minutes. This calms vata and promotes sleep. Other Measures to Reduce Stress Regular Routine Breathing exercises like Anulom-Vilom and Bhramari Pranayama reduce the stress hormone (Cortisol) and calm the mind. • Sleeping and waking on time, eating light meals, and reducing screen time help reduce stress. Lifestyle Support Soft music, walking, and meditation calm the mind and reduce stress. Benefits Relaxation Reduces stress and anxiety Improves sleep quality Relieves headaches and anxiety / Improves memory and mental strength in the long term
