how to use kesar - #43989

Lily

I am really confused about how to use kesar. A couple of weeks ago, my friend mentioned how amazing it is for skin and overall health, and I got super curious. I bought some pure kesar (saffron), but now that I have it, I don't know the best way to use it. I've read a lot about its benefits, like how to use kesar for glowing skin and even for improving digestion, but all those recipes seem complicated! Sometimes it feels like a lot of hassle for something as simple as a spice. Just the other day, I tried making a kesar milk, but I think I used too much and it tasted funny—not what I expected at all. Also, my skin has been having some issues lately, like weird dryness and patches, and I really want to try using kesar in some homemade masks or something. Someone told me it can help with that too? I tried searching online, but there are just sooo many different opinions on how to use kesar and I’m lost! Is there a simple way to add it in my daily routine without turning into a master chef? How do I use this stuff properly? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Understanding how to use kesar doesn’t have to be complicated. Saffron is a potent spice in Ayurveda, known for enhancing complexion and boosting overall wellbeing if used wisely. Let’s start simple.

For glowing skin, begin with a basic saffron face mask. Soak 3-4 strands of kesar in 2 tablespoons of milk for about 2 hours to let it release its essence. Once the milk turns a golden hue, add a pinch of turmeric and a spoon of sandalwood powder (if available) to form a paste. Apply this mixture gently to your face, avoid the eyes and lips. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water. Use this remedy 2-3 times a week, and you’ll notice improvements in skin texture and brightness.

Now, addressing your concern about dryness and patches. Infuse 3-5 saffron strands in 1-2 tablespoons of honey overnight. This blend can be applied as a face pack. Honey acts as a natural humectant, locking in moisture, while saffron adds its healing properties. Regular application can provide relief from dryness and uneven skin tone.

For internal use, safron milk is a splendid choice, but moderation is key. Take 3-4 strands of kesar, soak in warm water for a few minutes to bring out the flavor and aroma. Add this to a cup of warm milk with a pinch of cardamom, which helps balancing the taste. Drink this once in the evening. It’s believed to aid digestion, promote sleep and enhance mood.

If the taste is too overwhelming, blend saffron into a herbal tea or in food recipes like kheer or biryani but remember, a little goes a long way. With consistent, mindful use, saffron can certainly become a cherished part of your holistic health routine. Stay mindful of overuse to avoid any adverse effects, too much saffron or allergies can occasionally causes irritation or discomfort.

Kesar, or saffron, is a wonderful spice with so many benefits, but I understand how it can be a bit intimidating initially. For a straightforward approach to incorporate kesar into your daily routine, start by using it in moderation. Saffron is potent, and a little goes a loong way.

For glowing skin with saffron, you can make a simple face mask. Combine a pinch of kesar with a tablespoon of milk, let it soak for a few minutes until the saffron releases its vibrant color. Then apply this mixture to your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. This can help improve complexion and soothe dryness over time.

To enhance digestion, kesar can be used in beverages. Kesar milk is a great option. Use just a few strands—too much can be overpowering. Warm a glass of milk and add a pinch of saffron; let it infuse for 5 minutes. You can include a dash of cardamom for extra flavor. Drink it preferably at night as it’s known to promote good sleep and aid digestion.

For daily use in cooking, incorporate a pinch of saffron into rice dishes, soups, or stews. Soak the saffron in warm water or milk before adding to your dish. Because of its warming qualities, saffron aligns well with Vata and Kapha doshas. But too much can aggravate Pitta, so monitor your intake carefully.

If your skin issues persist or hypersensitivity occurs, consult a health provider to address underlying causes. Safe usage revolves around balance and respecting its potency.
