Doctors' responses

Dear Sam, Just wanted to clarify is your sons is 27 year old if yea then,Based on your description, it appears your son may be experiencing an imbalance in both his mental-emotional and skin systems, which in Ayurveda often points to disturbances in the doshas—particularly an excess of Pitta (inflammation) affecting the skin and Vata (nervous system imbalance) contributing to his depressive, lethargic state and low confidence. Start on 1.Tab.MEDHA VATI 1 tab twice daily after meals with lukewarm water 2.neemghan vati 1 tab twice daily with lukewarm water 3.Ashwagandha churna 1/2 tsp at night with warm milk 4.triphal churna 1/2 spoon at night with lukewarm water 5. Mahamanjistha aristha 2 tsp with equal quantity of water twice daily Include: Fresh fruits (like pomegranate, apple), cooked vegetables (bottle gourd, carrots), whole grains (millets, brown rice), and healthy fats (moderate amounts of ghee). Avoid: Spicy, oily, and processed foods which may aggravate Pitta and contribute to skin issues. Hydration: Encourage plenty of warm water . Ensure regular cleansing of the skin using mild, natural cleansers. Promote physical activity

Since when is he having these symptoms? Have you consulted the Pediatrician or neurologist/psychiatrist? Exactly what has triggered this behaviour according to your? Is he stressed about studies or any other domestic issues?

Hi Sam,

I understand your concern for your son’s well-being. To better tailor advice, I’d ask:

1. How is his diet, and does he have any habits like irregular eating or excessive sugar intake? 2. Is he experiencing any significant stress or emotional strain, as this can contribute to both mental health and skin issues? In Ayurveda, his symptoms might suggest an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs metabolism and skin health. To address this, we recommend:

Diet: Avoid spicy, greasy, and processed foods. Focus on cooling foods like cucumbers, coconut, and leafy greens. Herbal remedies: Ashwagandha and Brahmi can help improve mental clarity and reduce stress. Neem and Turmeric are great for detoxifying and clearing up skin infections. Lifestyle: Encourage a routine of daily exercise, yoga, and meditation to improve his mood and confidence. A regular Abhyanga (oil massage) with calming oils like sandalwood can also help balance Pitta.

Hey, about your son’s situation - that sounds tough. Depression and those skin issues can often be related in Ayurveda. Here’s what I’m thinking:

First up, it seems like there might be an imbalance in his doshas, especially Pitta and Kapha. This usually affects both mind and body. Pitta can flares up with fiery emotions like frustration, while Kapha may make him feel sluggish. And acne plus skin infections, they scream Pitta imbalance to me.

For the depressive mood, Brahmi and Ashwagandha are brilliant herbs to start with. Every day, a teaspoon of Brahmi powder with warm water, first thing in the morning, and Ashwagandha at night can genuinely work wonders. Calm and rejuvenate the mind - those are their superpowers. Just be careful though if he’s got any conditions, check with a health professional first.

Now, about the skin issues. Neem and turmeric are natural allies here. He can mix neem powder with some water to make a paste and apply on affected areas; turmeric and honey mixture can also be pretty effective against acne and infections. Remember to leave it on for at least 20 mins before rinsing off. Inside the body, juice of Aloe Vera (about 25 ml once a day) can help to cool down Pitta, and clear the skin from inside.

Diet-wise, say goodbye to spicy, greasy, and overly processed foods for a bit. They might just be fueling that raging Pitta. More greens, cucumbers, and cooling foods should be on the table. Also, avoiding fermented and too much dairy could help with Kapha symptoms.

Last but not least, encourage him to include some form of exercise – yoga or even just a 15-minute walk in the morning sun. A simple routine like Light pranayama (breath control activities) can help stabilize emotions and shift energy levels too.

I know it’s lot, but baby steps. Be patient and gentle in nudging him towards these changes. If things seem quite intense or don’t improve, don’t hesitate to reach out to an Ayurvedic practitioner nearby or even a counselor for added support.
