I am really struggling with my hair lately and need some advice! I’ve been experiencing some hair fall and dandruff, like ugh, it's so frustrating. A friend mentioned that is gingelly oil good for hair, but I'm not sure about it. I mean, I've heard about various oils before but never really paid attention to gingelly oil specifically. Last week, I did some research and it sounds promising. I did a little test with some other oils, but honestly didn’t notice much of a change. My scalp tends to be on the dry side and I just wanna find something that works. I usually just use coconut oil, but I read somewhere that is gingelly oil good for hair because of its nourishing properties. I’m just not clear, like, can I use it directly as a massage oil? Or should I mix it with something else? Like I've got some essential oils lying around. What do you think could be the best approach? Any tips on how often to use it would also be super helpful. Gingelly oil, also known as sesame oil, can indeed be a wonderful addition to your hair care regimen. In Ayurveda, it’s praised for its nourishing and balancing properties, which make it particularly suitable for vata dosha imbalances like dryness and dandruff. Sesame oil has a high content of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins like E and B complex, which collectively promote healthy hair growth by nourishing and strengthening the hair follicles.
For using gingelly oil, you can definitely apply it directly to your scalp as a massage oil. Warming the oil slightly before application can enhance its penetrative abilities, allowing it to better nourish the scalp and hair shaft. A gentle massage with warm oil, ideally done twice a week, can stimulate circulation, thus strengthening hair roots and tackling hair fall and dandruff.
If you enjoy experimenting, mixing gingelly oil with a few drops of essential oils like rosemary or lavender might be a nice touch. Rosemary oil is known to support hair growth, while lavender helps soothe the scalp. Be mindful not to overuse essential oils, as they are quite potent. For about 2 tablespoons of gingelly oil, 3 to 5 drops of essential oil should suffice.
